Openweb uncapped ADSL feedback

I said I was paraphrasing:
Original text "If the IS network does not suit your needs, please mail me: [email protected] so that I can move you"
I.e. in my case "If you are not happy with having no internet at all, email me"
Did that. 4 times already. Moved me 4 times. Still refuse to move me anywhere that gives me decent speeds for more than a day.

I thought the problem was with my line but my capped data with my other DSL provider gives me full download speed. Also if the problem is with my line, how do you account for the fact that I get a speed boost each time I email but that it only lasts a day and then I have to email again and get another speed boost for the next day then I have to email again and get another speed boost...

No, I don't think the fault is with my line. I honestly couldn't care if they are rated the best ISP every single month for 10 years running. The fact of the matter is I am paying full price for a product and getting 0.03% - 0.4% of what I am paying for. Stats and rating don't mean anything when compared to that simple fact.

They have two choices: Geve me what I am paying for or give me money back. If they refuse to do either then I am calling them thieves for advertising something taking my money and not delivering what I paid them for. What would you call that?

It's like going to McDonalds and ordering a Mega Mcmeal upsize, paying R60 for the meal and when you get to the collection point they give you only a packet of Tomato sauce and send you on your way

Openweb was voted 3rd (and there was only a 4% difference between 1,2,3) best ISP in the country for 2011.

@froot

That's interesting. I didn't even know these competitions or surveys existed. Do you perhaps have a link to it froot, I'd like to check it out.

Thanks.

You have 8 posts on the forum in total and all of those posts are bad mouting OpenWeb. I smell a troll

Please keep your opinions to yourself, as I am very very happy with Openweb and have been for many years. They are first class in service, and Mrbeep is the only ceo of such dedication.

Hi. I'm interested in getting the Openweb "openbrowse" uncapped 384kbps (the R89 one). How is that for streaming and Skype?

My account has been running full steam this whole month. Loving it.

I'm having bad service to saying so makes me a troll? Seriously? This is how you defend them?
"I love them so anybody who has a bad word to say about them should shut up!"? How absolutely juvenile!

I have had an absolutely terrible experience this month and cannot in good faith recommend them to anyone I know when froot says he has had full steam the entire month while I only get 6kbps. What makes his account more special than mine..? In fact, after the 4th time that I asked for my control panel login details I was told (and i copy and paste) "You are on a special account which does not have access to the CP at this stage". I have a special account that does not allow me access to my own account data? WTF is up with that? Clearly this means I am on a different package than others and something about my package means I get pathetic service... but you have good service so you have the right to muzzle me when I try to also get what I pay for?

You are right about one thing though, I signed up here because I saw people were saying MrBeep was very helpful and I was hoping that by singing up and having contact with him (whoever he may be) may lead to me getting my account sorted but, clearly since I am still struggling, that didn't help.

I signed up here specifically to have access to MrBeep. That desperation to get my matter resolved makes me a troll? Shame. As to my posts... let's see, what is this thread's title? Oh, yeah, that's right, ADSL feedback... Oh wait, whats that? I'm not supposed to have an opinion in the feedback thread because my opinion is not the same as yours? Hmmm... yeah I'm gonna take you seriously.

But credit where credit's due.

The line speed sucked, the tech support was just plain rude and didn't do anything to offer support, but the CEO always took the time to send me those 1 line replies. One 'my speed sucks. Please help' email always earned me a 'Here is your new login details' reply, no questions asked and 1 'I am very unhappy, please refund me and cancel my account' email and I get a 'Sorry to hear that. Here is your money back' reply.

So although I am very disappointed in a very sub-par service and not impressed by the tech support and the whole 'we only help with problems during the week' approach to doing business, the CEO (who I believe is MrBeep, am I right?) is a true credit to the company and I have not 1 bad word to say about him. All I can say to him is "Thanks for your many attempts to remedy this situation and for being much more professional in your dealings with me than what I was in dealing with you"

Again, credit where credit's due. I love the fact that he is not forcing me to endure an entire month of this torturous experience. Thanks.

Now I have another problem, though... I came to this forum in the belief that I would find out who is a decent ISP to go to. I then found the thread where ISPs are rated and worked though that. It seems there are a lot of "ISP 1 is awesome" vs "Wow! ISP 1 sucked so badly. I am not with ISP 2 and have no problems" vs "I was with ISP 2 but they did so and so. ISP 1 was awesome and then they started doing this and such. ISP 3 is great, though" etc etc etc posts so finding a decent ISP is a real problem. OpenWeb sounded like the best bet from all but now that I am in the "They didn't do it for me"-camp... which ISP should I choose, then? THAT is the question...

I joined OpenWeb in July... and apart from SEACOM outages, I have had zero issues with them. I have full speed 24 / 7 on my account. Every day thus far is a pleasure. I too am loving it.

it's funny how people join MyBB and their first post is a complaint....

I am not saying you don't have a valid gripe....CryMeARiver

CryingRaven,

after quickly scanning this topic for all your posts I saw that you have the 1MB Gold Uncapped account.

On which back bone? IS, VB, Altech, BCS, Neology??

Did you reset your router, (the little reset button at the back) and then logged in with the account details? I found that after resetting the router everything works fine again.

It could be an congested exchange or sometimes it is a routing problem - my Openweb account was giving me cr@p speeds a few months back, as soon as I log in with my pre-paid Afrihost account, I get full line speed. Logging in with Openweb it was cr@p again.

Eventually it was back to normal, remember to switch off the router for about 30 min every 3-4 days to keep it problem free.

iJack, I appreciate that you're an avid OpenWeb fan, but sometimes you're just really unnecessary. If someone is having an issue, and he signed up to get advice and/or help with the issue, there's nothing wrong with it. Get that stick out of your ass, seriously. OpenWeb is one of the best, if not the best ISPs in SA, but people are still going to have issues with them. You can't throw your toys out of the cot every time someone has an issue with them.

If it bothers you so much, ignore it. It's not your reputation at stake, it's OpenWeb's reputation. Or is it somehow your reputation as well?

Hey CryingRaven,

hope you are coming right. lets hope that moving to a new backbone will help you out at bit. out of curiosity, have you confirmed that the actual local exchange / telkom line is not having problems?

The VB account I am currently on keeps on performing very well. :D

Great stuff Openweb. Please keep it up.

I had a wonderfully fast 1Mb connection since i have been on the account(1 Nov), but I.S is pathetic today.
My backup SAOL account is flying so im assuming I.S are experiencing difficulties?

What's the best news server to use on vb?

Good question but i use newsdemon
http://www.newsgroupreviews.com/newsdemon-special-coupon.html

Use that link if you want to get a good offer, it runs full speed 24/7 most of the time. I have only used newsdemon since i got openweb but i would imagine any news server would work. I have another 200gb account with usenet-news.net that also works 100%

Newsdemon works 100%, but be careful if you want to DL older stuff, newsdemon miss some of the lines.

@Hummercellc

PM me your username or dsl tel number so that we can investigate why its slow.

Which speedtest server do u connect to?

Thanks

Also i dont get any packet loss on the network.
