Hello, yes it has.

The Uncapped Basic 4096 that IS sells is now running at 10Mbps. This account retails for around R1699. We call it the 10Mbps Standard Uncapped

Hi MrBeep

I see your running a special on Standard Uncapped, I want the 10Mb option which is R1099 a month! bloody hell!

Can u tell me how bad the throttling is? I game a lot and i also download here and their...I don't want to move over from Afrihost as they have been bloody awesome but this deal is a shocker!!!
 
Hi whippey,

This package is shaped during busy periods, which is generally during office hours. Off peak times, network population permitting, we attempt to provide an unshaped experience as much as far as possible.

They never post unless it's related to OpenWeb, and they both viciously lash out at anyone who even so much as says something remotely negative about OpenWeb, often to the point where they act as if legitimate complaints are ridiculous. Me and a few other members on the forums have picked up on it, and I'd say I'm about 98% sure my suspicions are correct. The other 2% is for the vague possibility that they are nothing more than extremely devoted, heretical fans of OpenWeb.

I was thinking on moving to them because of their R1099 special on the 10Mbit uncapped, but from what i have read from you and others I will not move. Customer service to me is number 2 on the list, and Afrihost has been a bliss and I will not go for a company who fights with their customers.

thanks, but been reading negative feedback regarding customer service. Great deal but this customer service is a big issue.

Nope, in general uncapped accounts and gaming don't mix. Depending on the game of course. For bf 3 i would not recommend uncapped for gaming.

I use uncapped and then switch to a capped account for gaming, i can game on my dsl heaven but i get pings of 50-80, load up my capped account and i get pings of 8-30. international should be fine but the standard IS cheapies might work but i somehow doubt it will be a good experience.

I had a wonderful ping, 13-15m/s on my Gold Uncapped 1MB account on the IS backbone when playing BF3, but since the 22 April all International downloads dropped to 7-8KB/s, 24/7. I was moved back to the VB backbone, now my download speed is normal, but BF3 is between 34-201m/s on local servers.

Got a prepaid lite account (SAIX) from Nexus and ping is 13m/s. small price to pay for extra fun.

Friend of mine's got the same problem.

IS blows for downloads but is good for gaming.
VB blows for gaming but is good for downloads.

You win some and loose some.

At this stage I prefer the downloading. It is cheaper to compensate for gaming than downloading.

It depends hey, my bf 3 addiction is so bad i go through 10-15gb a month :D, although half of that is because i forget to disconnect and start my downloads only to wake up and find out i just raped my capped account hahah.

VB is horrid for gaming as is dsl heaven although dsl heaven is playable but 50-80ms vs 8-30. I don't mind paying like 150 extra for low pings. I saw something about openweb having a R 6.50/gb capped account. Cannot find it on the website unless i am being doff which is highly likely :p
 
i hardly game but can say my experience on mass effect 3 has seemed pretty good
 
IS is tops for gamimg no matter your usage. I have to say that IS have a SOLID network and gaming on their uncapped products is pure awesomeness. The downloading part is not bad at all for me aswell and I find them to be quite good although I have to add that BCS Net treats me well with http downloads @ full speed 24/7

That account openweb sells is pure awesomeness. Got it on special the previous time and WILL not give it up for a capped account EVER!

How's daytime int. browsing? That was my one gripe with IS.

Just moved back to VB, and it's not what it used to be. Downloads are awesome as usual, but local pings are patchy. Youtube and general streaming is not so fun anymore.

Vb local pings are gone, you are lucky to get under 100 and even luckier if you get under 200.

I have to say though that dsl heaven is the business, decent local pings, torrents fly, browsing is fast and nzb's fly. Dslheaven is the complete package, you can game, surf, download and browse.
 
Something wrong between vodacom and mweb.

They are not peering correctly and its gives ping of 200ms+ but vodacom to other sa backbones works fine and its quite low too.

ohh my bad. That kinda sucks cause mweb is hosting most of the local servers in battlefield 3 and dedi unraked servers in mw3. Only noticed it recently
