cool then does not have FUP or any sorts, as mrbeep stated , it is gold network account no FUP etc

That doesn't prove anything regarding if we're at the mercy of WA's prioritisation / usage or not.

Where has MrBeep stated anything on the matter?

All the backbones have a FUP.

Vodacom Business
Altech
IS (pick one)

And so forth. Each network has an AUP, just because OpenWeb doesn't use one, doesn't mean the accounts it resells don't either.

It's logical to assume that DSL Haven is a resold version of WebAfrica's home product for slightly more. It would make no sense that WebAfrica offers its users a throttled service but provides third-party resellers no such regulation.

P.S. I was asked to pitch in :p

<-- Proudly a WebAfrica subscriber :D

we contract with openweb and expect service based on the FUP/AUP openweb has. from last time i read it, doesn't incorporate the reseller's FUP/AUP by incorporation. so if the openweb AUP/FUP has no throttle schedule, accounts he provides to us should not be impacted by that.

given we pay more for this service, it doesn't mean that wa can't provide him with terms different to their retail customers.

Well as mentioned to MrBeep before, I'm pretty sure the DSL-H accounts have a throttle applied as per the network's other accounts. Only difference is, probably, I won't get a letter from MrBeep.

if that is the case, i would certainly feel a let down somewhat by openweb.

Hello,

If you experience a problem on Gold on a certain network, we will move you to one of our other Gold networks. Each Gold network suits a certain portion of our clients.

Thus, if you are having a problem please email [email protected] so that we can resolve it.

Speculating on a public forum will not solve the issue.

We do not throttle on any of our Gold accounts. We do however shape traffic according to our FUP.

Please include your ADSL username and a detailed description of the problem so that we can investigate.

Gold FUP reads as follows:

Users agree to our Terms of service in full.
Gold uncapped will not throttle you after a certain amount of bandwidth. We will however shape (slow down heavy download protocols) during busy network periods. However, when the network is quiet, we will allow as much download capacity on the relevant network as possible.

I have to agree with MrBeep on this one, if you haven't given OW a fair opportunity to address your problem it's not right complaining here...just my 2 cents.

Correct me if I'm wrong but each backbone still has it's own port shaping/priority which isn't in your FUP.

ie: AFAIK, Vodacom Business throttles torrents agressively, whereas WA do not etc; Your upstream providers still have differences, not all backbones on OW Gold are equal.

I've been on Altec, IS, DSLH, VB and they are all different animals entirely.

Speedtest reports good speeds on my side, but surfing is up to ****.....so slowwwwwwwwww.....whats going on?

It seems as though shaping on DSL Heaven is heavy at night - getting good speed test as well but can't even play a 2 minute video from Youtube. If I use my free backup account there are no problems.

My Openweb Gold connection has been down for hours. When I run diagnostics I get the following error:
Ping primary Domain Name Server: FAIL

Router DNS Setting is set to: Enable Automatic Assigned DNS
I have tried different DNS settings .ie Google DNS - 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4...... also tried opendns 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220..... still same error.

Currently I am connected with my SAOL account with no errors or problems so this seems to be an Openweb problem??

Please advise

Thanks
