Openweb uncapped ADSL feedback

Sigh, phoned in trying to get hold of a sales person - "sorry no one available call later", had the same thing twice on Friday. I understand call volumes but so far my e-mails aren't replied to, when I do get hold of someone they don't call me back.

Badly managed in my opinion, or maybe I am just unlucky.

I think you're unlucky. I have always received very quick replies to my emails.

*innocent look*
So, the guys on Gold 4mb accounts whose lines sync at 10mbps, what download speeds do you get?

4,5 hrs since contacting MrBeep, no answer. Looking at moving to mWeb 1MB uncapped for almost halve the price.

Downloading speed between 7-8KB/s; this after switching off the router for 30 min, left on for 20 min before using, after resetting router to factory default, and switched off for another 2 hrs.

To be honest, I have also been thinking of moving to Mweb, not because I'm unhappy with OW, just to save myself R200 per month. Still undecided though, my luck basically works like this: I might move to Mweb and as soon as I move, Mweb will lose connectivity when I need access the most and then I don't have MrBeep any more to mail and say, I want a backup account in order to have access. But I guess the chances of that happening are like 1/1000 and I do have my 1GB Afrihost account as backup. :)

You are actually considering moving to them? Why not just downgrade your account with OW to Standard Uncapped. My Standard account works better than mwebs, thats for sure!

Love my Gold too much :D Don't think Mweb would be too happy if I transfer 300GB+ over SSL every month.

Openweb Gold is not what it used to be. I am being shaped/throttled/slowed down/blocked/call what you want to call it, only getting 7-8KB/s on international http & 10-15KB/s on international nttp downloads; and I am below 60GB.

I don't see this on my current Gold Uncapped 1MB and 384 packages anymore since 1 January 2012: "With lower contention ratios and an A-Grade network, clients can rest assured that if their Telkom line is up, their ADSL access will be available. Gold offers a 25% lower contention ratio. In simple terms, this basically means that 25% less people share the big internet pipe, thus everything, from Youtube to torrents will be much faster overall."

It has been more than 24hrs and no answer from Keoma

Friend of mine is having the same issues on Gold plus. His ftp/http is mostly fine, but nntp is down to 10KBps during the day, even astraweb's ssl (any of their servers/ports).

Only getting around 160kb/s on my OW Gold 4MB account downloading from news servers.... :/

Is that during the day? I get 20 -60kb/s during the day on my 4m. In the evenings it starts going faster.

In the day it's slower but in the evening it's downloading at the 160kb/s. At the moment it's running at 122kb/s.

What provider(s) you using? Have you tried using alternate ports / ssl ?

I'm with astraweb at the moment. as for alternative ports/ssl...well I honestly wouldn't know how to go about it... :/
