Openweb uncapped ADSL feedback

What happened to the old helpful support people ?

Been tossed off the dslheaven account and told its been changed to IS backbone. So with my account that keeps getting locked up on openweb's side i've been moved without consent to a @openweb.co.za account, which have endless speed issues with browsing/gaming/downloading (p2p/nntp/http), none of which ever had a problem on the old dslheaven accounts.

And the response from asking to be put back on dlsheaven : [email protected] copy/paste, not even a "no sorry we cant put you back on dslheaven" etc. just the silly wall of copy/paste reply.

So from the sound of things OpenWeb is becoming an exclusively IS reseller? Seeing as VB has also been ditched entirely, it seems.

Perhaps it's Vodacom who ditched Openweb...I know that Vodacom has strict policies to ensure high quality services to their adsl clients (if only the same could be said for their crappy BIS service!). Several Openweb clients previously mentioned that they can see other users logged in on their accounts when checking their bandwidth usage especially clients on the IS and Vodacom networks. At the time it sounded if Openweb sells an account to several clients or something. Was this ever resolved?

Rueben, how many times must I request you refrain from posting on ANYTHING relating to OpenWeb.

We do not wish to have your input on any of our threads. Please sort out your own business before trying to flame OpenWeb.

Now be off.

Absolutely not. We are not limited to selling one backbone, and are always out to find alternative backbones.

VB is not permanently 'ditched'. We are currently not creating new accounts until we resolve a few issues with them related to network quality.

The last time I checked this was an open forum and not limited to Openweb clients only. As I've said earlier, you are the most arrogant company owner I've ever come across. And for the last time, I'm not "Rueben" or whoever the person is you think I am. I've mentioned it previously and will do so for the LAST time hopefully: I'm a lawyer who specializes in criminal and credit law. So you can drop your cocky attitude...remember that you are just a normal person like the rest of us, so get over yourself.

Dirk,

If you haven't come right already, please PM me your contact details and I'll assist you.

I've been a OpenWeb customer for 7 years. I tolerated many of the shaping problems in the past but over the last few months it became impossibly slow. HTML / web speeds of 2kb-20kb on a 4mb line!
I also signed up right in the beginning when they were the first to offer 30gig packs per month.
Every now and again I would email OpenWeb support to shift me to a higher package until I was on the 4mb Gold Uncapped costing me around R700 p/m.

Now that I try to cancel due to bad service they throw me with a 30 day cancellation notice period. Which NEVER existed as far as I've been a client. My signature is on no contract stipulating their cancellation policy neither have I used their website to purchase my account. I've always just used email.

So they are blatantly bullying me illegally and their rude response was to contact their legal department.

My recommendation is. Don't put up with OpenWeb's bull**** and switch to one of the other Uncapped accounts like Mweb. Incidentally my account with Mweb is 30% cheaper and 1400% faster. I didn't switch for the past year out of Loyalty. In the past I even referred clients and friends to OpenWeb.

Now you suck!

Please stop fooling youself.

If you were a 'lawyer', you would know that spreading false rumours about a company is infact a serious matter.

Please refrain from posting on this thread.

Ironically, VB was the best backbone out there. Performance on it was on par with unshaped accounts. So please, Rueben, get a clue before you try to paint other companies in a bad light.

Please, users, if this guy is really a lawyer, before you take any advice from him please note the following; he stalwartly defends TRLtech, yet wants to paint OpenWeb in a bad light every chance he gets. If you read up on this forum alone, you will see TRLtech is not only known for shady activities such as double-charging their customers, then not refunding them and avoiding any and all contact with their customers if called, but also for incidents such as the time when they neglected to pay their upstream provider, thereby having their clients' internet cut off.

Just a bit of context so you guys have some food for thought.

It is fascinating how most of your previous posts are negative towards OpenWeb, and overly positive about TRLTech.

Only a few examples:

Negatives about OpenWeb:

Now for the Positives (mostly defending TRLTech) about this company you find so 'foreign' in your last post:

This is the kind of legal 'advice' you can expect from Mr Big Lawyer Captain Morgan. (This was his response to another user posting an update on his continued struggle to get a refund out of TRLtech. The user in question had been billed after his account had already been cancelled.)

FFS, not again! When are you going to stop posting updates almost each day?
This is starting to get rather annoying...why don't you get a life instead of trolling the forums?
I mean it was Saturday last night and here you are bitching and moaning instead of spending time with family and friends.

You seriously need to get a life bro...instead of going on about a refund, have you considered asking for bandwidth instead?

Nice advice from a 'lawyer.' Sounds just like the type of thing you'd hear from a lawyer, definitely not an employee of TRLtech.

So, that's pretty much my last post on the matter, as I think the evidence speaks for itself. I'm just honestly surprised he hasn't been banned yet, seeing as he now seems to have gone over into full-blown trolling.

Several Openweb clients previously mentioned that they can see other users logged in on their accounts when checking their bandwidth usage especially clients on the IS and Vodacom networks. At the time it sounded if Openweb sells an account to several clients or something. Was this ever resolved?

Hmmm funny you sould say this cause my account is also being used by some one else and its always been like that. At first I thought it might have been stole my details but it seems to have happened with all the account I have ever gotten and I have had a couple. I usually connect and see Durban Taj Mahal 3 but I see some one connected from Cape Town barrack Street. Funny thing is that guys is really pumping up heavy gigs cause I just use light usage and in 1 day we did toghether on the account 78GB.

Now that is quite heavy for 1 day usage which confirms no doubt some one else uses the account to. That doesn't bother me cause the account is advertised as having only 1 concurrent connection. The only thing is would that effect my speeds. I dont really thinks so but can't say so for a fact but I get my full 4Mbps speed so I am happy.

If openweb does oversell these accounts and IS allows it I don't think its a problem unless IS forbids it. Openweb must then be making some extra cash?

Lets just take this account for example
http://www.propertiere.co.za/basic-uncapped

If I buy that account for R418 and resell it for R250 for a 4mb account I would make some serious cash. IS has stated that the 2 concurrent connection uncapped product will "share" the 4Mbps speed to be effectivly 2Mbps per adsl line connected. I have kinda proven this to be not true as I bought a 4Mbps basic IS uncapped account and connected 2 x 4Mbps adsl lines to it and both lines could get full 4Mbps after hours speed connected to the same uncapped account.

I'm not attacking or accusing any 1 here. Just some food for thought. :-)

We purchase IPC capacity from Internet Solutions, and distribute bandwidth using our own shaping logic.

I would suggest you email us so that we can take a look at your account. I do know some stats are not showing correctly, which has been a problem for a while. It hasn't received top priority because it is uncapped, thus usage is not critical, but it is currently receiving attention with Version 2 of the new CP.
