Problem: Delayed Billing for Contract Data usage for December 2007

I should have demanded that all of the correspondence be done on email. This would have shown how different people who contacted me, tried to blame me for the R1398.04 added to my bill. The very first person I phoned was plain dishonest on letting me repeat my problem over and over and over again, whilst knowing that Vodacom made a mistake, and withholding that information from me. I only later on realised the arrogance of this person suggesting that I should upgrade from 2 gig, in order to ovoid this problem in the future. May I add that my usual phone & internet bill is R650 per month. Not R2,300.

I am also infuriated by another person suggesting that it is my responsibility to have a third party tracker installed to monitor usage. What is the vodacom4me website for? What does the word service provider mean? Provide your own software as part of the deal? I mentioned that I had an Apple Macintosh and the guy still recommended some PC software.

Vodacom Service Sucks ?

Well, Im new here, might as well start with a splash :D
October last here I took out a 3G 1GB contract, religeously monitoring my data usage.
Come January, I get a mail to inform me that VODACOM had a technical problem with displaying my data usage for December, and as such I owe them some money, that will be recovered from me come February.
To this date, the website STILL only displays 1GB of data used, and of course they billed me for an additional R246.57 on my Feb account
This, after numerous emails, ONE phonecall from them, saying the matter will be looked into, and, to insult to injury, ALL the other months I didn't use the full allocated data
What a bunch of #@^&, and I thought Sentech was bad

I just cannot believe that there are so many people having the same problem and all from Vodacom !!

I got a discount,so did many others who have posted here !
Basicly Vodacom WILL NOT ACCEPT SOME RESPONSIBILITY here...Everyone here says the same thing..WE MONITORED OUR USAGE ON V4ME !
Yet we are being milked here ! A 50 % discount on a R11000.00 bill..and the client accepts that !! hE KNOWS HE DID NOT USE THAT MUCH DATA IN 9 OR 10 DAYS...

Something is not right here..I am flabbergasted that we are still being screwed over AND ACCEPT IT ALL !!

yes big kriss, it will be great if we good get a petition or something going!!
as a client the is no recourse for us, we just accept whatever vodacom says and carry on our life! well as soon as I save up enough cash im going to cancel the 3g contract and move to ADSL! and i guess its true what they say what goes around comes around 10 fold! and from what I am hearing about the bmw competition vodacom is going to see their ass 10 fold, no offence vodacom3g - u still a good guy!

so i accepted the 50% discount, what else could I do! if i rejected it and went the legal route i would still have to pay the R11000 and wait months for the legal case to go through and i Will need to fund the legal stuff, were are we supposed to get that type of money?? im only 24

Ok,I have not heard anything untowards about the BMW competition, but judging from the sms`s I get to enter, another HUGE money spinner...but thats not the gist of this topic either..
Im just dissapionted in this all..

That's my latest communication from Vodacom in a long series of e-mails and phone calls since last week.
I remain hopeful...:)

That was Monday...Today is Friday. Still trying to be "hopeful".....

garden route use, hello peter, they respond within 2/3 day, so if u post i today u will hear by wed latest considering there is a weekend

Thanks - just might do that - another Saturday spent trying to sort this business out. Who's starting that petition? Where do I sign? (I'm so fed up with this...)

Yes, it was unfortunate on two accounts;

1) The fact that you could get random access to others reports.
2) The timing that coincided with the December billing issues.

V3G - thank you - another reference (however "unofficial") to "billing issues for those last 10 days of December. But WHEN THE **** ARE YOUR EMPLOYERS GOING TO ADMIT TO THE FACT???

I don't think the fact (that there were billing records not billed in December but tagged on Jan/Feb accounts) was ever disputed. Vodacom even SMS'd everyone affected telling them about it.

But rather it seems the 'disputes' are around the amounts to be billed. PM me all your details as per my sig and I'll follow up on your situation.

Well, I never got an sms - either on my phone or data sim. But, that's by the by. Thank you for your offer - I didn't want to ask :o - I have sent you a pm.

Was wondering why you did not ask.

I'm guessing you're a busy guy... and your "how to" lists "billing issues" as one of the things you battle to help with. So I was reluctant to ask. But thanks. Will let you know what transpires...

Well, looking at the amount of posts and errors on this thread, it's astounding that Vodacom doesnt point blank admit responsibility ie by not overcharging on any of these accounts. Ive had the same error, have followed up numerous times (have the e-mails, reference numbers and what nots as proof) and theyre still "investigating". I initially started this whole saga on 30/01/2008 when my first e-mail was made to Vodacom. Strangely, the first e-mail i received told me i have nothing to worry about, there are no exceeding data usage on my contract, only to get called about an hour later by someone stating it WAS an error and that i will be billed an additional +- R870.00. See-sawing back and forth, contacted by a Muhsin Davids and several calls and e-mails further, i'm still without an answer and no concrete feedback given. I chose my 2 Gb contract with a reason - it's more than what i need per month, i always check my data usage regularly on the vodacom4me website and have never used more than my allocated data. So why the hell would i suddenly start using more?- because of Vodacom's delayed billing error. I work for a large insurance company and if weve made an error, a damage control will be opened and the company will run at a loss - it's as simple as that. Now if only this can get sorted before the next deduction date...

Me too
I try to manage my data usage, come end of December I see I've done exactly 1GB of data, so I stop logging on.
Middle January I get an email telling me VODACOM had technical problems, and therefore I have to pay an extra R246.57 .
My December usage STILL only shows 1GB of data used :(
And customer service and myself have been batting emails back and forth, back and forth, back........
Oh, and the money WAS deducted from my February account
Not happy, not happy at all.

Oops, sorry for the double post, didn't realise last weeks one had in fact gone through.
Yep, nothing, other than a few more emails, has happened

Copy'nPaste

And now you know exactly why the Reports tab was taken offline for a security revamp:
http://mybroadband.co.za/news/Internet/2904.html

Yea yea! So because of their security problems we the ones that pay for it. I was Helped by Vodacom actually my account was taken from around R4500 to around R3500, but to do that they made me agree to some crap, basically admit that i was the one who faulted.

Their argument was that I had definitely used the data; I said something like no **** mate. I kept mentioning that I always kept tabs on my account through the site. He kept telling me there was no problem with the site. He then sent me an E-mail giving the possible reasons for my abnormal data usage. Here is a quote of the E-mail.

“When your PC / Laptop is connected to the internet via your data card, your PC / Laptop can send or receive large amounts of information ‘by itself’ within a very short period of time – without you even knowing about it! This is normally caused by viruses, automated software downloads, etc.

You can manage your data usage as follows:

• Do not leave your PC / Laptop connected to the internet when you do not require to be connected.

• Disable automated software downloads

• Ensure that you have sufficient protective measures against viruses, spy ware, etc, loaded on your PC / Laptop.

• Be careful when listening to music, or watching / downloading movies over the internet, since such content normally contains large amounts of data.

• Protect your PC / Laptop against unauthorized usage and access via wireless technologies, such as Bluetooth & WiFi

To find out how much data you have USED / AVAILABLE on your current DATA BUNDLE:

• Log onto www.vodacom4me.co.za (using your data card’s “cellphone number”), and go to the My Account… Account Info menu option

• SMS the letters MM to 31050 from the Vodafone Mobile Connect Software (free service)

• Click on the ‘Usage’ button in the Vodafone Mobile Connect Software – as an indication of data usage. Note that this may not always be 100% accurate due to various technical reasons – such as viruses, spy ware, and other malicious forms of software etc.

NOTE: It is YOUR responsibility to protect your PC / Laptop against unintended data usage when connected to the internet via your data card.”

WTF if he wanted to call me an idiot he should of just done it on the phone.

Even though I'm thankful for the help for bringing down the balance, I feel cheated as hell.
