Rain users are angry - Here is why

Today I had to reset my router 5 times.
Granted its just the rain branded franklin r811a but the nearest tower is less than 200m from me with no huge buildings in the way. DL and UK was never that great but sufficient for what I needed.
This is the 3rd weekend in a row and I don't even bother reporting it anymore.
I don't need another mushroom telling me to switch of the router, remove the sim for 30s and restart again.
2 Weekends ago the genuis in the call center told me to do this. When I told him I already did 3 times he told me to 8try the sim in my smart phone. When I told him I already did he then told me there must be a problem at the tower and he would escalate it to their tech team. This was supossedly going to take 24 hours to sort out. Not even 10 minutes later I had perfect signal, well for me anyway, for a whole day.

ummmmm Rain is former the iBurst...same company..........
Iburst started off good as well. Granted service was never good such somebody even created another website about them but in the end it was their policies and packages that killed them. Rain is heading in the same direction now.

Lol have you actually used them or are you going to continue spewing drivel?

I'll tell you why. I had to reset my router 8 times over the weekend. They never actually lived up to expectation but I could live with the low speeds. But now it seems they are struggling even to provide a signal.

I wonder if Vodacom users using the sites that they roam on have the same problem.

Vodacom's CEO warned them but this is what happens when you put a bunch of financial experts in charge of a telecomms co.

But most of all I'm angry because they learnt nothing from their fixed-lte fiasco.

I had hoped they would, even after Vodacom's CEO warned them it would but no nothing, zero, nada.

Once again the old saying of "if it sounds to be good to be true it probably is" rings true.

Seems there is no remedy for stupidity or greed.

The best possible outcome for poor suckers like me is if Vodacom gets the spectrum they need, if and when Icasa eventually auctions off, and walk away from the roaming agreement.

Or until fiber becomes available where I stay.

I think Vodacom users are the major problem.

Isn’t it mission accomplished for rain they’ve just valued at 13 billion odd... who cares now??

I believe a major part of their valuation is the Vodacom roaming deal.

As I said the best thing is for Icasa to auction off spectrum, Vodacom getting what they need and then screw rain the way they're screwing us.

Just proves that if you want to be a maverick and turn an industry on its head you first have to understand how it works.

Who are the shareholders?

Patrice Motsepe's ARM, a couple of bored ex-bankers/financial types - anyone else we're not aware of

Rain have many problems - from a government who wouldn't provide additional spectrum until they could figure out how to fleece their pockets to inept uninformed management to inconsiderate a-holes abusing the system.

Its just the arrogant way of dealing with these problems that sucks.

What also sucks is that their roaming partner's CEO warned them this was going to happen.

And EX Outsurance CEO.............. Patrice is a minority shareholder though

Lol still going on with your drivel? Give it a rest already...

Rain still has the best unlimited mobile offerings on the market; they should be proud of their service. With that being said, I thought the roaming agreement with Vodacom would have made things better? Seems like everyone who goes into business with Vodacom suffers... Gogga Connect, among many others.
