*READ FIRST* MTN Network Status & Issues (DNS, Throughput and Latency)

@AfriNatic Not sure who else to call here as there's no MTN reps. Are you aware of data issues with mtn? As per the last few posts - my data connection is basically useless right now apart from some intermittent blips.

You can log a coverage query with MTN. They will be able to advise if there is an issue with the tower nearby.

My MTN sim shows 4/5 bars 4G but has no internet connection at all. I have a FNB Connect sim that has the exact same issue. Any one experiencing the same or have any ideas?

Also, with both sims, the phone has a permanent up connection at under 1kb/s - Using Glasswire, its android trying to send data out. There is zero data usage down.

What I have noticed is that speeds have degraded considerably of late during evenings. Used to get between 40-80mbps day or night but now 6-8mbps seems to be standard during most of evening only improving after midnight.
 
Anyone experiencing packet loss? On MTN LTE here in PE and it's not fun.
 
Dead slow here too - PE. I called the desk - useless responses usual, said they will escalate to MTN after trying to reset my profile or whatever it is they do.

Yeah - shortly after i called them, mine also went back to normal. I swear sometimes they realize, or notice something is wrong when the customers call in, and then when checking a tower(s) they silently fix it in the background without acknowledging that there was a problem in the first place.

Well, it's my first month with MTN. I'm pleased enough to cancel my Telkom backup.

And you are correct. It is a massive conspiracy.
 
Mine gets a bad case of slow in the evenings, but what is worse, is the speed goes totally unstable. Up and down like a ping pong ball. So streaming goes to hell.

Anything going wrong with MTN? Residents on my group here are complaining of packet loss and slowness. Currently at Port Edward residence.
 
Anyone in or near Cape Town CBD on MTN, having very slow data speeds over the last few weeks?
I mean, like nearly non-existent at times
 
Anyone having issues with MTN dropping connection, signal weak then going through edge, 3G and 4G the entire day. Only for the last 5 days or so I have been experiencing this, before it use to work 4G+ all the time.

My tower has died, they promised to sort it out, in the mean time the put me on a different tower but it is slow. Wonder how long I should give them, before telling to move me back to my normal tower. Thing is I don't know how long it is going to be before the tower comes back up again.
 
Anyone experience MTN data issues in Rosebank Cape Town area?
I'm having endless issues for the past few weeks, with my MTN data connection (Rosebank, Cape Town) via Afrihost fixed wireless service. Its super slow speeds at times - mostly evening. Goes up and down and sometimes completely dead. Have had no real support or resolution from Afrihost. It used to work well, and was fairly consistent.
 
Hey there.

I've been having issues with my Afrihost (MTN) internet connection, can't tell why. I get 1.1 Mbps down but 20+ Mbps upload. I'm in the JHB area and it's driving me nuts.

Anyone else having issues?
