Router Battery Backup

Howdy Peeps,

Seems like my Mini UPS from Geewiz died

Other than trying to plug it in other plugs, is there anything else I should test before sending it back for replacement?

Edit,

It is not at all sophisticated, but I wanted to ask anyway.

Closing the loop, sent it and got a new one. I did not pay for any of the postage back and forth.

Got the replacement in ~48 hours, even though I was told they would need to send the unit to the supplier for testing with a wait time of ~14 days.

Similar battery size? There is alot of similar looking UPS on the market but with different battery sizes.

@L-Dog This is what I have:

You do need a 12v 2amp power supply, which it does not come with. It is been solid over the years.
Mine just died yesterday after almost 2 years.
Dead as a doornail

Need some MYBB expert advice please
Do I go for the Ellies Cube Mini as above or the Ratel 860P as replacement for my dead VIZIA?

I've got

It's been going for 3 years and powers my ONT and my router, but it's not lasting as long, used to be able to do 10 hours, but now runs out at 5.

Hi all, just a quick question.

Currently waiting on delivery of a Gizzu 8800mAh mini DC UPS (The PoE version).

My question is will I be able to power my ISP supplied Mikrotik hap ac2 router using PoE and also the FF ONT (12v). My thinking is if I'm powering the router using the PoE port how will I connect the router to the ONT since there is only one internet/PoE port of the back of the Mikrotik??

Could someone please shed some light if this setup would work?
TIA

yes can either use 2x 12V DC output or 12V on ONT and PoE on mikrotik

Thank you for the response, the issue is the router is rated for 24v DC hence me wanting to go the PoE route. The second issue is if I go the PoE route, the Mikrotik router only has one "internet/PoE" port so that means I wouldn't be able to connect the router to the ONT, granted there are other LAN ports but no internet connectivity if I connect the ONT to one of the LAN. Any idea as to how I would set it up

The Gizzu has a PoE and a LAN port, ethernet cable from ONT to Gizzu LAN, Gizzu PoE to MikroTik LAN 1.

Noted, much appreciated.
In my setup the fact that it's 100 meg doesn't really matter even though my network is Gigabit.

ie

The Gizzu powers a Mikrotik RB2011 via one of the DC ports quite happily. My ONT cable runs into a Gigabit Mikrotik port but the LAN cable from the Mikrotik to the Gizzu input port is on one of the 100 meg Mikrotik ports. I then have a single PoE powered Ubiquiti AP (configured to run at 2.4ghz for max coverage and least power draw) that is connected to the Gizzu output port.

Reason that works for me is during normal conditions zero traffic flows over the Gizzu Ethernet interface - all my other AP's connect to a Gig switch that is connected to a Gig port on the Mikrotik.

During LS there are vastly fewer devices connecting to the internet (just cellphones and a couple of tablets) so 100 meg is fine (handles Netflix, DSTVNow, and browsing) without any issue.

The solution works brilliantly for me - basically, for R1800 (I had to buy two Gizzu's because the ONT is downstairs and the router and AP upstairs) I have good enough internet during loadshedding.

Here we go,Ultralan
Damn, that's a good price - I'd probably have bought that if it was available at the time (it wasn't) since it's just a few hundred more than the 100 meg one cost

Made my Ratel 860P POE port gigabit capable by using a POE Splitter and feeding the output into one of these:
Adds a bit to the cost, but now I can drive my two gigabit Ubiquity APs from 1 UPS. Works great!
