Router Battery Backup

It's 2 years old. I checked the amp ratings of the router and ONT. Router says 3.3 and ONT says 0.25. So the Ratel being 17600mAh should definitely give me 4 hours, but I guess if they're slow to turn on the power or the battery capacity has diminished, then it could be an issue.

I did read that it's supposed to just switch on again though.

Those values sounds like the max draw. Just to note that we should actually be using Wh when talking about capacity and Watt, for current, as both are voltage agnostic and that can change things quite a bit.

My theory here is that the Ratel's battery pack voltage drops too low (bad cell?) that are then causing these issues. Although one would expect it to start up again once power is restored. Giving more wheight to your 'bug' argument.

If I were you, would get a cheap miniups dedicated for the ONT alone, giving you more runtime on the Ratel.

interesting thing is that even though it's a bit more than her budget, the person who originally asked me likes this option the best and has decided to go for it.

It just is less complicated for her - ie she doesn't have to worry about any special connectors, just plugs her laptop in, and away she goes.

Yes. I also didn't want to mess with cables/connectors as it's for my work laptop.

I have a Ratel 860p and sometimes after a 4 hour loadshedding it seems to have switched itself off and I have to manually press the green button to get it to switch on again.

Number 1 concern is that the 4 hour loadshedding is completely draining the battery. I only have the ONT and router plugged in. Surely I should be getting more time than 4 hours?

Number 2 concern is that I read that even if it runs out it is supposed to switch itself back on when the power is restored.

Any ideas as to what's going on here?

4 hours is nothing for a ratel especially if it's only powering a ONT and Router.

Could be a cell like mentioned before. But one have to take a multimeter and test the pack/cells voltage when it shuts down. From what i have seen it shuts down when there is short on the outputs or when the BMS kicks in for any protection on the battery pack.

So after it turns itself off and you manually switching it on at what percentage is the battery indicator?

I got the SecuriProd one and put it in an ET 500 motor. It works well. The motor tries to float it at 13.5 V which is fine.

I say "tries" because it's TBD whether the gate motor charger is fast enough. From what I can see over the past few days the SoC has gradually dropped. I suspect after a few weeks of continuous stage 5+ I may have to recharge the battery externally.

But at least these LiFePO4s won't be destroyed by being gradually drained the way the LAs are.

Yes, same thing on my alarm system. At least there I have space for an extra battery. So far so good.

2 years with our loadshedding - you've simply worn down the batteries a bit and now their capacity is less.

Ok so then it looks like the battery is still good (but still must be tested to make 100% sure). So must be something else maybe a bad component or BMS.
