Router Battery Backup

Groan. Fine. I'll go get the old APC at the office when I next go in and fix it. Probably needs a new battery too so will have to open it anyway. Now there's likely a battery shortage, right?!

Told you about the Eaton UPS and my testing, nothing about APC except that one has to press a button every time it is active, so as to mute it temporarily.

Like the piece of prose, we had about DSTV decoders and their software bugs years ago.

9 bugs in the SW, 9 bugs in the SW
1 bug gets 'fixed'
10 bugs in the SW, 10 bugs in the SW
(or words to that effect)

Terrible way to state it! They wanted to make sure
BTW, I see Takealot is increasing the prices for the above quite substantially.
I bought it at R799 early this morning. When I checked again it was increased to R899. And currently now it's at R1199.

I noticed. Pretty sucky.

Last night:
754262

This morning:
754264

Now:
754266

Just shows how fake the "was" price (and the 30% discount) is!

EDIT: sorry, missed everybody's discussion around it.

I ended up buying another (the more old school 1850 mAh 12v 2A one) from Geewiz which still has the same price -- and they had in stock. Raru and ComX has another one but can't say for sure when I'll get it: https://www.comx-computers.co.za/PO...i-UPS-for-POE-and-DC-devices-Buy-p-231648.php

Has anyone tried RATEL from Communica:

I am reporting them to the CC!
And don't tell me this is the market system at work, supply and demand! BS! if Supply and demand gets programmed into a computer it is no longer representative of the free market system but just another self-fulfilling prophecy.

I agree. This is BS.

Check out the communists above. Businesses buy UPS to sell an then loadsheddinf stops and they sit with the stock for months, taking up space, and then loadshedding happens and everyone wants to buy again. Should have bought before loadshedding like me, don't come cry now.

More than double the original price in less than 24 hours. Insane!

I wonder whats their shame price limit. The price point they'll need to hit and get ashamed for hiking it to such a level.

Algorithms know no shame. I wonder if it is all of us hitting that product page that is pushing the price up.

That's obviously shameless, but it is sold by a third part (Vizia) not Takealot directly, so I suspect it is Vizia that determines the price.

I think so too. They've increased the other "mini-UPS's" that they sell too.

Hi everyone, trust all well. I’d like to setup a UPS to power my fibre router (Tenda AC18; 12V, 2.5A) and ONT (Nokia ONT; 12VDC, 1A). The UPS is 2000VA, output power factor of 0.9 and has 4 batteries (12V, 9aH per). Before Eskom strikes (again) later tonight, and before I connect everything, I wanted to ask whether my calculations below were correct, please?

UPS: 12V x 9aH x 4 = 432 watt hours (not sure if multiplying by # of batteries is correct?)
Router & ONT: (12V x 2.5A) + (12V x 1A) = 42 watt hours

Runtime (50% load) = (432/42/2) * 0.9 = ~4.5 hours

Many thanks in advance.
