Router Battery Backup

Hi everyone,

Anyone know where I can find a DC to USB-C cable or adapter to link a Ratel to my Amplifi router? If it matters, the router takes 9V. I am struggling to find the right cable.

Thanks!
Maybe try the pishop.co.za or geewiz.co.za?

Ok guys. A bit of a noob when it comes to this stuff. Is someone able to confirm if a Gizzu (specifically this 36W one https://www.takealot.com/gizzu-8800mah-mini-dc-poe-ups-black/PLID71034021) will work for a:

  • TP-Link Archer C20 AC750 Wireless Dual Band Router (9V; 0.6A)
  • Huawei ONT (12V; 1.0A)
Will this get my fibre running okay through loadshedding?

It will work. I can guarantee you the ONT does not use 1A though. Will do 4 hour loadsheddings without any issues.

You issue two main issues here will be:
1 - the gizzu outputs 9V or 12V on the DC plug, so you would either have to get two gizzu's or follow the road less traveled. There are quite a few options, e.g. piggybacking on the POE port (and stepping it down to 12V) or splitting the 12V output and stepping it down to 9V for the Archer.
2 - the gizzu's short DC cable might not fit the ONT/Archer, then you would need an adaptor/extension - I got this https://www.takealot.com/lumeno-3-meter-male-and-female-extension-cable-white/PLID41395249

Also, the Gizzu is cheaper at e.g. Loot https://www.loot.co.za/product/gizzu-8800mah-mini-dc-poe-ups-black/glld-7159-g700

I would suggest getting the Ratel 860P.

Use the supplied cable to power the Archer through the 9V/12V switchable DC socket, then get one of the cables that @ld13 suggested to power the ONT from one of the 4x 12V sockets.

That should keep you up and running for closer to 8 hours (I still need to test how long it lasts).

I'm looking for something to power my ONT and Edgerouter X SFP with a PoE AP. Any good router UPS that will support my setup?

I suspect it might be 100Mbps, will have to test for you if no one else knows. It
It's definitely 100Mbps

What you could get is a gig POE adapter (R60 from Geewiz) then power that from the Ratel

Great idea!

Ratel 860P
Plug the ONT and Edgerouter in using the DC splitter cable, then you can use the PoE port for the AP. If you need gigabit for the POE then you need to also get this:

Will that be able to power the Unifi AC AP Lite even though it requires 24v (and the router can only output 12v)?

I used it to power the Rain 5G CPE which i believe also needed 19-24V... Where are you located? If in PTA I can lend you mine to test

What's the best solution at the moment for a 9V router and a 12V ONT?

This business of the the Gizzu's cable being short.... buy two Gizzus.
