Router Battery Backup

We need to use one of the 12V ports (15), so we need another cable. If you don't have one, just get one tomorrow. Communica is open on a Saturday :)

You're in west Jnb if I remember correctly? Communica will have, but it's quite a drive to Midrand. Might want to check a Hifi Corp nearby, or ZAKspeed...

Yep, that 's a very useful cable as an extender, but you need one with two of the plugs on the left. :-(

Oh haha :)

Is there any way you could give me a description of what to buy please. I can get one tomorrow maybe, unless it's a specialised cable.

I dunno what to call those plugs, and there are quite a few, the inside dimension differs in size...

But perhaps if you test the ONT using one of the Ratel's four 12v ports with the cable that you are currently using for the TP-Link, and it works, then you have an exact sample to give the guys at the store...

That is an excellent idea.

I owe you @RonSwanson :DThanks for spending your Friday helping with the Ratel.

We should ask for your posts to be stickied, they'll be useful to other people.

Only a pleasure @maumau , we should ask @rpm for a chatserver with a special MyBB support channel (and AV) for members to help members realtime :)

Looking at @killerbyte 's post here, it's a 2.1mm male to male DC plug.
The only place that I am sure will have will be Communica, they are usually open on a Saturday morning. Fancy taking a country drive out to Midrand? If so, I would try to get there earlier, it's less busy then. Plus you need time to check out all of their other cool stuffs. I can spend hours in that shop

 Couldn't go today but I've made a plan to take a drive next Saturday and will take the existing power supply as a sample.

In the meantime I'm so delighted the Ratel's working, can't wait to show it off this evening when a couple of family members visit.

We had an extended power failure overnight so my trusty UltraLan micro ups was run down to shutdown for the first time ever. It lasted about 4 1/2 hours running a B818 router and the home alarm system.

EDIT: This is the 60W, 17.6Ah version

Thanks @DawieZA
Got the Ratel 860p as I was running a similar setup to you.
Fibre ONT - DC 12V
Mikrotik Hap AC2 - POE 24V
Raspberry Pi 2 - USB (5V 2A)

But the supplied DC cable is a measly 30cm, anyone know which online shop sells a 1m (at least) DC to DC, standard plugs?

If you want you can plug the Mikrotik into that splitter with the ONT. It is rated for 12V. I have the Mikrotik Audience which is a bigger unit than your HAP AC2 and I have it in that setup.

Some advice for a novice please. I want to power up my Tp-link AC750 router (9V) and the Octotel ONT (12V) during loadshedding with a Gizzu I received as gift. It has a 5/9/12V output with a splitter cable. The other POE output is 15/19/24V. Can you power both those of one Gizzu or is it just easier to buy a 2nd one and have a dedicated one for both devices running from the standard DC outputs?
