Any ideas on powering a 48v Ubiquiti Switch8 60w?

The Ratels and Gizzu's aren't going to cut it from what I see, as they only do up to 12v DC.

Just get a boost converter from Mantech.

Depends on the power output of that Ratel. If it can't put out 60W, then the boost converter won't help. See earlier post about creating power out of thin air (previous page)

This should do the trick

That only reaches 38V and 802.3af requires between 37.0 to 57.0 Volts at the powered device (48V ideal).
1 Volt headroom is cutting it really tight if one has to still add loses over cabling.

I bought a cheap buck boost converter from China (eBay) for my Ubiquiti UniFi AC Pro access point because I couldn't find one anywhere in South Africa for a reasonable (less than R200) price.
DC-DC 200W Buck Boost Module 6V-35V to 7V-55V for $6.80 and free shipping. Can't beat the Chinese on price. Just take the power figures with a pinch of salt.

Just don't learn the hard way about voltages. I have a nice shiny Gizzu, but my Asus router runs 19V. and the Gizzu only puts that out on the POE. I thought about picking up a passive POE splitter, but not sure how well Active POE from the Gizzu would handle a Passive output

EDIT - found some documents about this. It seems you can't do that.

Ah, it's active is it :( that's unfortunate... Was hoping to use the PoE port (and some cable splicing) to get 19V out!

Doable,but challenging
Active to passive 12v adapter, then a variable voltage buck boost to 19v

This is exactly the problem with these solutions. They're great until you need more options or have more devices. Hence I went for the Sherlo option - more work, but more customisable.

Spoke to dispatch and the lady there said she is processing back orders so mine can't be dispatched today (for delivery tomorrow). They will likely only be able to get to it later today or tomorrow then the courier can pick it up - hence the courier cancellation. The orders will be honoured and will go out just a day in processing the pickup and deliveries

waits and sees

Update - items have been picked up by the courier. No update yet in terms of when they will be delivered. I was hoping to have them by the weekend

my order status is " on hold "...doesn't sound very good?
wanted to pick it up around lunch time.

On-hold is fine - it means they haven't finished processing it from an internal stock perspective - mine was also on hold until just before it was picked up then the status changed to Completed.

My order status is on hold as well. Was hoping to have it sooner. Damn

Ditto. Mine changed t completed this morning. then about an hour ago I got a tracking number. Doubt it will get from JHB to CPT today still lol.
Maybe I can pick it up from the depot if it gets to CPT tomorrow.

Just got an email from them now, saying their stock is depleted and no ETA on when they will get in again. They going to refund me.

Talk about crap service, when their website clearly stated they have 33 in stock when I ordered mine.

Will never buy from them again.

Unfortunately, our stock of the Ratel 860P has been depleted.
We are unable to issue an ETA at this point on additional stock.
Kindly forward banking details to enable us to refund the payment. I will forward pop as soon as it’s done.
Once again, our sincere apologies

I guess I wait again. :)
Wonder when Communica are getting their stock.
