Router Battery Backup

For anyone with a ASUS router making use on a non-standard DC plug diameter. I was able to pick up the correct plug from Rectron. A 4mm by 1.37mm. Now I should be able to sue the POE output from my Gizzu to get 19V

Now the interesting question - can I solder it into the power cables on a standard ethernet cable, or would I need to get one of those Passive Injector Splitter kits?

Depends if the Gizzu is passive POE or active. (I know I looked that up at some point but don't recall) - if it's active then it won't output power without the device on the other side to "tell it what it wants", so to speak. (I think).

If passive, easy-peasy. In fact, didn't I post a pic a few pages back?

People with the Ratel 860p - what average backup times are you getting with what sort of load?
Tested a Gizzu with my Vumatel Raycore CPE and MikroTik hAp ac2 and got around 4 hours to ~25% then proceeded to test the Ratel 860p and it did 5 hours 30 min to ~25%... one would think double the battery capacity would provide.. double the backup time, not 30% more? :ROFL:

Ubiquity Unifi AC Lite AP (over POE)
After 4.5 hours still on 50% on the Ratel 860P.

Cool! Let me know when you hit 25%... Sounds similar to mine. RB750G and AP AC Lite probably use about the same amount of power as my hAp ac2.

I think it's one pair or the other. I used a multimeter to check which pair. Maybe active PoE does both pairs.

Mikrotik hAP ac - Which can take 12v
Unifi UAP-AC-LITE - 802.3af/A PoE - 48v
Gizzu 8800mah

The stuff up is I thought the Unifi AP was the older model which was 24v passive. What options do I have to power the Unifi AP from the Gizzu?

My AC-Lite runs fine on 24v passive. They support both standards, according to the sticker on the box. (The injector that shipped with it definitely is a 24v passive unit, even though the unit supports 802.3af.)
 
That's interesting, it came with a 48v injector.

Do you know if it auto switches the power, or is config on the AP required?
 
Sure you don't have the AC-Pro? All the specs show the AC-Lite as shipping with a 24V Passive POE included.
(No idea about configuring - I'm assuming it will be auto-detect.)

The newer AC Lite self regulates either 24V or 48V

It was already installed and I assumed it was a lite, will have to check to see what it is.

It does not look like the Pro can take 24v passive. :(
 
I haven't been able to access the AP yet. If it is a PRO and only supports 48v, is there anything I can do with the Gizzu to power the AP?
