Router Battery Backup

Is the below the same mode?
I think one has two selected-able DC outputs, and the other PoE. The one you linked is better suited to my needs.

This was my rationale as well - a simple plug and play solution with all the necessary cables and connectors in one box to keep the internet connection going. Also didn't want to fiddle with POE and searching for the correct cables / adaptors. The Cube has worked seamlessly during the recent power outages - time will tell how it performs over the longer term.

When I went to the Ellies store, I took the chargers for the ONT and router with to confirm that that Cube could match the plug sizes and the power outputs.

My thinking was to have the Cube for the ONT / router, and then a separate backup system for the laptop, monitor, etc instead of trying to over-engineer everything on one system. In my setup, the ONT / router is on a shelf high up on the wall at the other end of my study, so it made sense to go with a stand-alone unit that could also be placed on the shelf instead of running cables across my study to connect everything to one back-up source.

Our ONT is also on a high shelf so cabling was a problem - your solution is a good one.

Hi guys

Looking for a UPS to power our router + laptops (and monitors, 4 total). Don't have a huge budget but also don't want to spend like 8k.

To be clear - 2 laptops + 4 monitors, and the router, so a total of 7 items

Stupid question maybe, I see a lot of people asking for a UPS for laptops - don't the laptops have batteries?

And your ONT Akash if you're on fibre?

I made my own including a cable with a buck converter to power the 5V base station for my VoIP phone.

Hmm... Interesting idea. Mantech Electronics is up the road from my work so I can easily get parts to make cables for anyone if they are struggling to find what they need. Just drop me a PM or ideally message me on Telegram and we can discuss. ;)

Check my comment above, I can make one up for you if you need.

Will bookmark this post thank you. I managed to get from Communica but why so difficult?

Ellies or Mecer trolley

Yes, but they are shot, due to abuse. So the idea is to get a new set of external batteries, so that they can also be abused, anew.

Yes, that too. I've never even bothered to look at a UPS before today so don't know what to look for heh
Get one of these:

See how much power you need, then you'll know how much battery you need. So, plug everything into the killawatt, and run it for the length of time you want your backup to be, then get a 12V inverter/charger and size the battery accordingly. Once you know how much you need you can come back here and confirm what's needed. My 2c.

Just gotta add, I'm a she. And I don't need to power the extra monitors. We'd have liked to keep the extra pc on during load shedding or the tv, but it's not a must. The internet being on is the most important

Edited my post, my bad. :p That improves your situation dramatically, then if your laptop and can hold out during loadshedding, then you just need one of these ratels/gizzus/power cubes for your internet. Gizzu deal from loot sounds sweet.

Internet Router (+ CPE) look at the Mini UPS ranges like the Ratel,Uniterm also gives discounts to Mybroadband members ( a few models have been named in this thread)
The big costs start coming when you need to keep your 220v appliances going for extended periods

I've been fixing up refurb cheapie inverters and putting new 105AH batteries on them, but that needs some comfort with working with electricity
