Router Battery Backup

This is the one I have, is basically the same as the Ratel 8100.

You will need to get a DC Power adaptor kit to get the correct plug for the back of the Asus Router. I got mine from Unshed My Load, but I see they are no longer taking orders. Not sure who sells them locally.

The Solarwise unit (15600mAh) is 0.7kg in weight while the Ellies Cube mini is 2.7kg (40000mAh). Both have LiFePO batteries. Solarwise must use more efficient ones?

Probably the materials used. The Ratel/Solarwize units are plastic, whereas the Ellies unit seems a lot sturdier.

I would assume the ellies is heavier due to it being 40Ah vs the solawize 15.6Ah. Assuming they both have the same type of 3.6V 18650 lithium batteries, the ellies would have more batteries @ 144Wh (3.6Vx40Ah) vs solarwize 56.16Wh (3.6Vx15.6Ah).

19v is pretty uncommon really. We have done a ton of power backup solutions for our clients here in Durban and we ran into a similar thing with 19v Asus routers (they really have to be different...) and PoE af cameras that require 48v PoE which just isn't possible on a small budget.

Busy messing with small 12v systems with a step up currently to 48v. Looking at the Solarwise one that does 19v if all you need is fibre ONT and router power then its pretty much great to go, still need to see the specs in details though.

All fine with the 19v output as a few models have it, but then try to get a plug/adaptor to match the Asus, as the size varies from model to model.

Comes with two 1 meter DC-to-DC cables, a couple of adaptors (used one for the ONT and one for the router) and a 1 meter 2-pin charging cord at the back of the unit.
Time will tell how it holds up but so far so good.
The LEDs are super bright though.

i was told by the Ellies rep that you can charge or power a laptop from this but trying to figure out how...

That's also the problem, we had to get a ton of 3.5mm to 2.5mm, even then Asus varies on the router year and model etc...

Depending on the laptop you should just be able to do a DC to DC power cable, just double-check the voltages and ratings first, also be wary that a laptop will use quite a bit more than a router and fibre ONT.

Triple check - if you get the output wrong you're screwed.

My bad. I thought Solarize had an extra 0 in the mAh. Darn small fonts. :)
 
Seems my Ratel popped in under a year. Anyone have an idea if there's a warranty on these?

Will check myself once power returns thus my ask :|

Under a year... that's not great at all. How long were your LS sessions?

Mine has been going string for about 18months now but we only have the 2hr slots.
