... shouldn't you be splitting from the 24v?
That's how you get the magic blue smoke
If it was in series, then yes, but the connectors are parallel.

If you can get it powered up then I don't see the issue. Once everything is on it should stay on. I think using AC provides a little more power than battery only, so when devices initially turn on they use more power then they settle down using a lot less. The fact you can then remove the AC to the UPS and everything stays on tells me everything will be ok during a power outage. Thanks all, so tested each thing...
Basically it doesn't seem like the UPS like to cold start the ONT from battery only - UPS wants to be connected to power first.
If I power UPS first and then connect ONT/router it all works fine. Disconnect power from UPS and still all good.
But if I plug ONT in to unpowered (battery only) UPS it doesn't like it - UPS seems to be confused.
Router works fine, no water what.
I'll still return the unit as my plan was to only use the UPS when required and not have it constantly powered.

The whole idea of these UPS's is to have them constantly connected.
It’s designed to always be in line and replace the power supply.
Just leave it alone and go on with your life.
No reason not to leave it powered.
It doesn’t use the batteries when there is power. Why abuse the batteries for no reason, seems like a waste.
If we were on Stage 3/4 loadshedding, then I agree - leave the device plugged in.
I'd rather keep the UPS ready in case of a power outage.
I'll probably swap the device for the UltraLan item someone linked - seems like a more powerful device and go from there.

I am very confused why you would unplug the UPS ever. Its designed to kick in when you lose power, to do that it needs to be plugged in and used as the default power source for your ONT & router 24/7. This is just like you would use any UPS.Why abuse the batteries for no reason, seems like a waste.

It is not charging/discharging for no reason as it sits at 100% waiting for a power failure. A cycle is 100% down to 0% and back to 100%. It is not cycling when on power. You're making life too complicated.Yep, all understood.
My understanding is lithium ion batteries have a limit on charging cycles right.
So why let it sit for 95% of it's life charging/discharging for no reason...
Just trying to min/max this thing![]()

Not sure what you mean by 'manually powered back on' ?Do any of these built for purpose backup devices come back on with AC after the batteries have been completely discharged?
I have a Ratel 860p which gives me about 8hrs with my setup. Plenty for load shedding, but having had a few area faults that last longer than that the Ratel must be manually powered back on when AC returns...annoying when you aren't at home to do so...
Got to press the power button on the unit for 2s to get it to turn on instead of it returning to an ON state once AC is restored. Not sure what you mean by 'manually powered back on' ?
Ah ok.. I didn't know the Ratel works like that. The one I have will stay on 'ON'.Got to press the power button on the unit for 2s to get it to turn on instead of it returning to an ON state once AC is restored.
The manual says it should:Ah ok.. I didn't know the Ratel works like that. The one I have will stay on 'ON'.
