Router Battery Backup

So I know this thread is possibly specific to routers/ONT's etc, but I have a question about powering my laptop from one of these Netogy/Gizzu/Ultralan UPS devices.

I got a Netogy like this (at about half the price a week ago....)

and power my laptop, router and fibre ONT off it, it handles a 2-hour stint okay. I actually expected lower consumption from the 3 attached devices, so I just wanted to check something, since I'm now considering getting another UPS just for the laptop:

The laptop is an HP Pavilion, I removed the battery a couple of years ago when it swelled up and went dead, have been running the laptop solely off the stock power supply ever since. Given the following, how many hours could I reasonably expect the Netogy UPS to last running only the laptop?

Original laptop power supply: 19.5V, 2.31A
PSU battery capacity: 14400mAh (8 x 1800mAh batteries apparently)

Let's assume the laptop is drawing maximum power, which presumably should not exceed the maximum rated output of the original power supply.

Seems to me that it should last in excess of 4 hours, but I have probably neglected to consider a couple of other factors. Who can help me with this?

Roughly 2.31ax19.5v=~45w
8x1800mahx3.7v=52.8wh
52.8/45=1.17hours
Not accounting for any inefficiencies. I like to use 0.85? , so the above becomes 1 hour.

But! The laptop will not draw 45w the whole time. Although it would be best to look for something with more batteries/capacity as it covers you for stage 6+ then.

You could maybe get something like this for your laptop?

For the ONT/router, something like Ellies cube mini or any of the solutions you mention.

Seems this is for recharging the existing battery, which is no longer present in the laptop. Maybe I should just buy a fresh HP internal battery.

Thanks, you provided the missing link. So the fact that the Netogy currently manages to operate all 3 devices for 2 hours means that they are operating well below their maximum load demand?

Looks like the best solution may be a new internal HP battery...

This is an example. There are laptop power banks out there which supply DC current and even this may power your laptop.

A new battery would be ideal to be able to use your machine without an external power supply.

Otherwise something like this may power it on AC:

Geewiz has similar units.

This should work, but I would not buy it - in the end all the solutions are just batteries in different formats.

Will you be mobile? Replace the internal battery.
Not mobile? Get the netology or similar. I think I have linked the higher capacity ones before, will check. Personally, I avoid these 220v type of UPS, as you are converting 3.7v to 220v to 19v. You don't need 220v.

Yeah this laptop doesn't travel so no need for an internal battery. I think I'll try the Netogy on it, I really don't want to spend R4K+ on a big power bank

What's the thoughts on an EcoFlow River Portable Power
Station - 288Wh as a solution to keep the following up during loadshedding.

Unifi 8 Port Switch (US-8-60W) powering a Unifi US-8 in addition to 4 Unifi AC-Lite's via PoE.

Anyone know whether the Ecoflow can be left plugged in like a normal inverter?

Reason I'm considering this in particular is for portability so if we go away for a couple of days we also have a portable solution for keeping an LTE modem up and running during loadshedding and an easy way to charge phones etc

May I suggest not biting the bullet just yet...

I don't think these units are made to be kept plugged in 24/7. It normally come with a 2 year warranty so maybe that is a risk that you are willing to take...

IMO Try to figure out how much power your setup requires before you buy something. You can check power usage with some smart plugs or a kill a watt plug.

Quite weird that those cant be plugged in 24/7 considering the price you pay :(

I mena mecer + 100ah lithuim can be plugged in 24/7.

Thanks.

Confirmed in this thread (Gizzu GPS300 or Ecoflow River
