Router Battery Backup

Been a few years since I looked at these, so I'm glad to see LFP becoming more widespread in the small router UPS bracket... have had a larger Gizzu LFP model on the router for a long time now but I remember the smaller units from various brands all used to be those identikit "lithium ion" models which were good for a year or two of regular cycling. Wanted a little 12v UPS for some emergency 12v lighting (and possibly a router in an emergency if the main household backup failed for some reason) and I see this 55wh LFP unit is R399 on TL:

I've got a few of the old lithium ion one's connected to all the wifi access points, they haven't been cycled due the the lack of loadshedding so may be worth upgrading soon.

im still using a gizzu one since 2022 or so still going strong last we had a big power cut was a few months ago (substation blew) was no power for about 8-10hours. still went quiet strong.

Cant go wrong with these units.
HOWEVER this 55wh on a router will give you about 11hours +/- if its just the router thats maybe 9v (about 4watts) if i calculated it right

Was it connected or just stored.

If you stored it best within 2-3 months is to charge it and discharge it and charge it up again back to 100% id say discharge to at least 30-40% before recharging it keeping the battery healthy and not degrading.

otherwise if its in the wall plug etc should be fine. The gizzus (Some) were LifePO4 batteries they quiet high cycles in the first place eitherway the Li-on pretty good too.

Typical, just wasting more taxpayer money. What is this supposed to achieve? Of course you have an option. This is not a dictatorship and you can always vote FF+ in Nov.

Yes, we've had the Gizzu 60W/69Wh LFP model on our router for years, still going strong. When I was talking about the 'identikit lithium ion models' I meant ones like this little non-LFP 32Wh model (pic below) one saw all over the place in different branding. Which was fine at the time, and we had one at one stage, but it seems they are still being sold for a similar price to the new 55Wh LFP one I linked above. Good to see a direct replacement for those using better technology.

Anyway, I ordered one of those that I linked above and if anyone is wondering it does come with the usual cable/connector set from Gizzu (not mentioned on TL listing):

I have 2 of those identikit ones. I bought the second thinking I could daisy chain it (I didnt look before jumping) when the first one didnt last as long, so now one powers the ont and the new one the wifi.
