RouteSentry for Vista (beta) - please help me test

The wireless machines will be connecting straight to the router, cannot do PPPOE dial up on Vista wirelessly, only over cable.

Hey guys, sorry for resurrecting this thread once again, but it should be stickied anyway imo. :)

I was just planning my set up with a local and international account, when I realised that 2 PC's will be connecting wirelessly to my router, probably the Marconi Premium combo. However the one that really needs to use the local account besides my own PC (on ethernet) is running XP, so will this work using Routesentry (the XP version) connecting wirelessly to the router?

While my other PC is using Vista Routesenrty over cable... is there a limit on how many dial up connections the router can accept in half bridged mode?

Thanks for any help. :D

Issues

Hi , I have gotten this vista version of routesentry to work fine on my machine via wifi, it works like a charm, no issues.

However... I'm trying to help a buddy set it up on his machine, he has a telkom router and a web africa account for international, the router handles the connection and i told him to make an account to dialup for the local, he did this after changing router to bridge mode yet whenever he tries to connect the local it says error 679 : computer is unresponsive or some such.

Its a telkom router with a 4 port ethernet interface he says it doesnt have a model on it, is there anything that can be done to connect him, am i missing something, all i had to do for my machine was bridge and run routesentry , yet thats not working for him.

His machine is win xp as is mine and I had no troubles getting mine to work

Please help

Thanks
J

Why are you both using the Vista versions on XP, when there is a specific version for XP?

Oh well, your problem at least half answers my question.. so I guess I can use 802.11 to connect routesentry to the router on XP then. :D

I use it because the xp version doesnt allow me to route over wifi, which sucks, how do i setup routesentry on my friends machine, router is in bridge mode but we get error 678/679 whenever we try connect the dialup acc, acc on router still works.

Hey all

The problem i got is that with my Vista, i cant seem to see the router in Route senrty, so i can tell it to use that for Int BW. Any1 got any ideas? I have a Billion 7300, and ive followed this thread step by step, but still nothing.. Any help would b appreciated.

Archi3 you need to put your router into half-bridged mode, meaning that you enter your international account's details into your router itself while you establish the PPPoE connection to your local account using Vista. Thus, your international account connects via the router, while in route sentry you can then go and set your local account only, because there is only one physical PPPoE connection... You can also place your local account's details in the router and establish the PPPoE connection to your international account using Vista. The choice is up to you which one, you use where.

Hope this helps you.

hi all - i am planning on "getting connected" and will want to use 2 accounts. i'm using Vista and i can follow all the guides, but one thing i am not sure of is what routers are capable of half-bridged mode?

can anyone help me out with a good, yet inexpensive router to get?

thanks all :D

i'd prefer to get a decent modem that won't give problems... suggestions?

k, so Route sentry installs, click on icon, nothing happens.... check task manager, and its just sitting there in processes...

HELP!!!
