To each his own 
But as I say, our family VW history isn't so great and each one was brand new - out the box from the dealer. I've heard of a lemon of a car or simply unlucky - but I think the only VW my family had that didn't have an issue was a VW Tourag 2.5TDI that they had for 6 months. That's from about 6 in the past few years.
