By the way how do I track my order? I chose DHL for shipping. Don't see any info on that in the email even though my order has supposedly been dispatched.

Mine is already in sa and still no tracking # from Handtec. I had to phone Handtec for the number. Also shipping with DHL. Quit amazing the way you can track the movement of the parcel on their webpage

You need to go to the express section of the DHL website and enter your tracking number in the box provided.

Mine has made it to SA Customs. Hope that does not take too long!!!

Mine is sitting at customs as of this morning. Hopefully they don't see all our phones coming in and decide to get all greedy on us :|
 
YAY! It has cleared customs! Now I wonder how much I am going to be stung by them?! should have it tomorrow or Tuesday.
 
Excellent news HolymanSA, please let us know what the SARS damage was as I too am contemplating going through Handtec (when the Rand has improved a bit!)
 
Just talked to DHL. It cleared customs and will be delivered tomorrow, but they didn't have the information how much I'm going to owe. They said they'll call ahead of time with that information.

I also got the call from them today. I ordered two of the phones and I'm being charged R2540.85 by them.

Ouch! that's a bit steep. :sick::cry:

Would be good to get an indication from the rest of the guys getting their phones soon, just to see what the average duty is on the phone. Thanks for your input on your import costs Wag.

Tell me about it. This doesn't seem right to me. Wag says he paid 850 so what the hell?
Maybe I heard it wrong from the lady on the phone because that means I'm paying about R6329.23 per phone?

Geez now I regret this.

Yip, pick it up at Hatfield branch on Saturday morning. Busy weekend and did not spend much time playing with the phone. I only used it and It's is fast, very fast and smooth. No waiting and the battery life is for sure better than the dhd. The screen quality and brightness is the best I've seen on a phone and that includes the dhd and iphone 4. Will spend some time with it today

Ok, the numbers are starting to look scary or at least the expected landing price locally. So it's a matter of either wait (probably about 6-8 weeks) and get it locally on contract (where it will hopefully be subsidized) or get it from Handtec and get wacked at customs now.
 
stoked for you guys who have your phones already :) any idea why there seems to be a discrepancy in the customs price?

another month and a bit and i can get mine locally :/
