Samsung Galaxy S2

I don't know if anyone is having this problem, but my beloved Galaxy S2 keeps switching itself off especially after charging. When I switch it on again, it get the "critical battery life" window.

I'm wondering if it is maybe a bad app. If it is then a factory reset should fix it or it is maybe the battery? If it is the battery, where does one buy Galaxy S2 batteries??

Sounds like its not charging - probably a faulty charger. Try using a different charger or a different battery.

Can anyone tell me how CM10.1 official differs to Rootbox? Or more precisely, vice versa.

This may sound like a dumb question, but is this ROM any different to the JB test ROM that is out there already?

Yes, it will be.

The Test ROM is like a Beta ROM, not the final release.

However, this Test ROM is actually very good and 100% usable.

I doubt it will be much different kingrob. I think the only differences will be:
- Wi-fi drain will be fixed
- Exynos exploit fixed
- Lock screen freeze fixed
- Other small bug fixes

Those are differences, right?

Which means it's not the same and we want it. :)

I think the battery drain issue is the largest reason to move from test to Final. That, and bragging rights. :D

GM uses older wi-fi drivers in Siyah so the drain is back to what it was on ICS. But I am sure Samsung deliberately leaked the firmware so guys like GM, yhe CM team and other devs can solve the issues so they can merely implement.

Think you have left out the biggest culprit....the media scanner that never stops scanning. ;)

If that is fixed in the final release, I think we are in for a huge treat!

Yeah - about that. There are mixed messages out there about the scanner. Some have it running quite alot and others not. I installed Rescan Media Root. You can switch scanning on/off. Even though I don't use it on NeatROM, I don't see a huge amount if wake locks for it with BBS. I will check again tomorrow for wake locks. But, yes I missed that one in my list... :o

Or it could be a faulty micro usb port. Apparently there is a known failure where the IC blows and your phone no longer charges

No charging is fine. When I charge it, it charges till full then I can use my phone for say 4 hours, then suddenly screen will flicker and then shut down with 35-45% battery life remaining. But I think its a bad app, I suspect Google Chrome, that app has always given me problems.

But thanks anyway guys.

Also the Face tag feature in the gallery, my standard S2 battery didn't last very long. :(

Might be incorrect battery stats, had that on my Nexus 7, then I moved the charger to its own wall plug away from the multiplug and all is good, also try a different charger as obviously something is wrong with battery reporting if it dies at 35%
