btw, for S2 and most Galaxy devices, if it hasn't been mentioned here, give Slimbean a try, currently on 4.3 beta 5 and this rom is smooooth and it's got built in inverted Gapps (you can turn it off if you don't like it) but so far this is my favorite rom, ever.

It's even more fun when you soft-brick your brand new Galaxy Note 2 because the version of CWM was borked on your device and had to keep searching for a different build :)

No matter how much experience I have, when it's a new device I'm Mr Paranoid :D

Took out the battery and switched on again, stays stuck on that bootscreen. Such a frustration as the phone isn't even rooted anymore (had a factory reset about 4 months ago when it went in for repairs) and I didn't do anything funny.

Happened to be close to the Vodashop so dropped it off there for repairs - hopefully they can sort it out. Only due for an upgrade in January. Back to the old iPhone 3G for now.

May loose all my photos on my phone though as I didn't back that up. Lesson learned.

Got my phone back today. No idea what the issue was but they replaced the LCD screen and did a software reset. Fortunately my photos are still on it. Funny thing is the LCD was replaced like 2 months ago as well.

Great service though by vodashop Tygervalley again.
 
I'm currently running Omega Rom v13 with Dorminax kernel and I must say I'm very impressed, even more so than with CM. It has now been almost 10 months since I last tested another ROM other than CM.

If you feel like trying something else, give it a spin!

I'm waiting for a stable 4.3 build. Very happy with 4.2.

Yeah on my Note 2 I had some sound issues with stable 4.2.2 (build 8) but the latest beta5 of 4.3 has resolved it, so I'm using that for the time being.
 
Guys, I think I messed up a bit. I updated my CM from 10.1 to 10.2 using the CM updater on the phone.

After the update it booted, then I restarted and it didn't boot. Now my phone won't boot and it's just stuck on the Sll screen. I can still access the recovery mode and download mode.

Any advice please?

Wipe and install cm and gapps from recovery.

Dang, so I am gonna have to wipe. Should have backed up before updating....

Was hoping there might be some other alternative.

Thought I'd try to install CM 10.1.3 from recovery and hope it works.
 
My SD card seems screwed. So can't get CM loaded onto it. Any other way to get CM on my internal memory when phone won't boot?

EDIT:

Ok so I booted without the SD card and it worked :D

My apps were a bit funky after the jump from CM 10.1 to 10.2 but I then just flashed the recommended Gapps for CM 10.2 and BOOM, everything works!

i popped on 4.3 beta build 5 of slimbean yesterday. first boot i had everything crash before setup, so wiped and flashed again and all was well.

realised the "data" folder i deleted earlier had my nova backups in. doh!

one thing i noticed is the browser doesn't show most visited on the home screen. suppose it can't be that hard to type in facebook, mybb or google "note 3". that's apparently all i do on my phone. :)

I've started using Opera more now, I find it a way superior browser, at least for speed, navigation.

Yeah, always do the FULL wipe, in CWM I also wipe \system under the Mounts menu.

Seems like Android 4.3 has removed USB Mass Storage, at least on my Note 2 :(

Titanium Backup is your friend :) my Titanium Backup folder always lives on the external SD card, I also have a dedicated 'isntalls' folder with the ROMs and that way it's a lot easier for me to keep track and, if the proverbial doodoo hits the fan it's easy to unplug the external sd card, pop it in my PC and copy any files on/off the phone.

In the last month or so I tried just about every popular rom & had some or other issue. Seems like I always come back to CyanogenMod. Still waiting for a stable version but the release candidate; cm-10.1.3-RC2-i9100 is now my daily driver. Its stable & I don't have any issues. I have installed Titanium Backup to get rid of those annoying broadcast messages. My next choice would have been slimbean had this version of CyanogenMod not been stable enough.
