Yeah same here - also a plain white box. Couldn't see any sign that it had been used and it's an official battery so I didn't really mind too much.
 
That's good to hear. The absence of any suspicious sign is what actually helped me accept that it could be a working legit Samsung battery. Anyway, thanks for sharing.

hey man

thanks for this info, its much appreciated. I am inspired by your battery life, so Im gonna go with your recommendation of this kernel and custom rom.

I have downloaded both and saved them on my external SD card. Maybe a stupid question, but when you flash this ROM I see it updates the kernel as well? Im not sure what changes it makes, so should I update the kernel with the downloaded one once I have flashed the rom?

I have recently updated my S2 from 2.3.6 to 4.1.3 using KIES. There are a few niggles here and there, but my biggest concern is when I check my battery usage after 2 hours uptime:

Android OS 48%
Screen 38%
Cell standby 6%
Android system 4%

seems high. I updated 2 apps, sent a few whatsapp messages and received 2 short phone calls during this time.

Android OS is way too high.

Do a factory reset....

I'm really contemplating this device now too. I really wanted the Nexus 5 but after seeing many reviews of the inferior battery and camera I don't see a reason to get it over the G2.

Let us know how it goes :)

Battery life? Challenge accepted! Give me some time - I will drag 5hrs screen on time over about 18hrs usage. :thumbup:

Battery life is great! (Ingress still beats it down, but hey :)) The camera is awesome as well - I convinced another associate to get one too, and we are both very proud (and happy) owners.
 
:D I heard someone on a podcast say "If you have an S2, go out and buy a new phone". True, it is a bit long in the tooth, but it still flies. The screen resolution is lacking a bit compared to today's phones though. :( That's what made me move on.
 
Had a weird issue on my s2 this morning. After disconnecting the charger it kept saying charging beep, then a few seconds later it would beep again (same sounds it makes when you insert and then remove a charger) shut down the phone and the charging icon pops up, then vanishes. After a battery pull it did it once or twice again and then stopped.

I had the same issue. It was the charging jack for me. Took a needle, cleaned it out and it stopped.

Haha....now imagine Samsung blesses the S2 with an official 4.4 ROM? :D

I'm longing for my Note 2 again, might have to rest my S2 for a while.
 
Hi guys.
Just thought that this will be the best place to get help with my problem. I use my Galaxy S2 as a modem to browse the web and do some gaming on my PC. I have had an issue with the signal and data connection being lost after a while if I use the USB tethering feature or portable wifi hotspot feature but I do not encounter such issues if I use the phone ordinarily. The only way that I can get the data connection back would be to restart the phone. Do you guys know what the problem could be or how I can fix this?
