Check in CWM (app) - it should be right at the top, or compare your screen shots in recovery with the ones in PhillZ XDA thread

EDIT: Get triangle away from Chainfire from either the play store or look for it on XDA - this will remove the pesky triangle and reset the flash counters

Need some help pls .. I flashed the Nordic rom and all went well. Tonight the battery was at 2% when the phone started acting all funny. Apps did not want to open and the phone just hung. So reset it (hold the power down till it shut off) and when I restarted it did not connect to the cell network it keeps on telling me insert sim. So I pulled the battery took out the sim, cleaned it, restarted but still the problem continues. Can it be the Nordic Rom?

It could be a bad flash. Re-flash and see if it is better. And BTW, charge your phone when it reaches 10%. Li-ion batteries doesn't like to be run down.

Hi. I'm on the Spanish ROM and Kies gives me the following message:
New firmware available - Current firmware version: PDA:LS8 / PHONE:LS8 / CSC:LS3(FOP)
Latest firmware version - PDA:LSD / PHONE:LS8 / CSC:LS4(FOP)
Should I upgrade at all? Should I use Kies and if not does anybody know where I can download the ROM not leading to the HotFile download pages? (I've tried ten times at least and it fails everytime using HotFile)

If you go to your phone's Settings > About Device > Software Update > Update, does your phone prompt you to update?

Just ignore Kies.

The Spanish ROM is 4.1.2 is the latest for the S2.

I tried updating mine using Odin, but keeps failing .. detects phone starts the flash process but eventually fails at the boot.ini, I think...
tried googling but no conclusive solution.
Downloaded both Spanish and Nordic roms.... just to tease myself...
I have it so close.. but cant get it :(

It looks to be different builds of 4.1.2. XWLSD is a bit newer and here is a comparison. http://www.android-hilfe.de/5136589-post154.html. Will leave it at XWLS8 until I know which version SA will be getting...

Most of those changes are just to make the firmware work on different providers' networks.

If it provides a boost when you're using the firmware in RSA, then it is just pure luck.

The Spanish ROM in it's current form works 100% with Vodacom's network & I think Samsung will just rename the CSC file.

I am currently on SlimRom. I am enjoying it as it is very stable and the battery life is good. With moderate use during the day I am left with about 50% battery at 5.

But I must be honest, I do miss the Samsung firmware with all the added features. I was on the Spain Rom, but for some reason the battery drain was very bad. With the same use as currently, I would have about 15% left by lunch.

So, which custom ROM, based on the Stock Samsung Jellybean firmware would you guys recommend, which is stable and has similar battery life to my current slimrom?

I also had battery drain issues with 4.1.2 stock (Spanish version), I don't know what causes it but seems to be more common with 4.1.2 roms. I tried Omega which had slightly better battery life but still nowhere near as good as Slim with 4.2.2.

I agree the battery life on Slim is amazing. I think Omega is a good option if you want to keep your Samsung stuff (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1489197).

You can try NeatROM or Omega like Doc suggested

Most probably Facetag and a few settings that you could have disabled, or doing something wrong. :p

I'm using the Spanish ROM and I get six hours screen-on time. Really think that's exceptional.

If you're talking standby with moderate use, easily two days.

We've had this discussion before :D

I tested with a completely clean install with nothing else installed and all non-essential services disabled.

Yup, I'm using the Spanish official ROM and can't be happier. Got everything I need/want in a phone & it is simply superb.

Here's my homescreens, only one I have left out is my SPlanner 4X4 Calendar widget (which is actually the star of the show).

But the music, radio and video widgets on my last homescreen, are simply the best. Love it.
