Ahh, must have been the stock situation - when I asked my MTN rep is it available I should have been clearer. I assumed it wasn't approved for use in SA yet, whereas she meant they don't have any!

I installed my screen protector properly without any bubbles or dust. If you are thinking about one of these then please do so. Its probably the best case out there right now. It costs a bit more....but i rather have peace of mind knowing that my phone is safe.

How long did you have to wait, it's been almost 3 weeks for me so far and I've already nicked my screen.

How kiff is this phone though!! I'm lank chuffed, swype is making me want too type out whole words cos it's actually fun. Lol

Installed launcher pro and beautiful widgets today as well, too awesome.

Where do you get the SGP Neo cases in SA? I hope they have one for the Galaxy Tab. The Samsung "leather folder" case is VERY expensive (almost R700)!
 
NFC

Looks like bad news with regards to NFC.
After a very frustrating call to Samsung South Africa, they advised that the South African version of the Galaxy SII does not come with NFC (which I had to explain what it was), and they have no idea on when it would be coming to South Africa, and that I need to speak to my operator...

I also want to buy a dock but I dont know if its going to work with a case, no way in hell am i going to take the phone out of the case every time I want to charge.

I ordered mine and got it within 2 weeks. I honestly expected to take longer. I got it off ebay. And i chose the option for normal postage as opposed to fedex. The phone is excellent. I am glad i didnt go for the htc sensation. My friend has the sensation and after he saw my phone with its case....you can see he wishes he chose the galaxy.instead.

SA doesnt have any sort of case as yet. You think that service providers would have enough brains to get the phone with cases. I got my sgp hybrid case online. I dont regret the purchase at all. The phone looks pretty smart with it on. They really designed it well.

Got it at samsung vodaworld for R300 well as far as my casing, well havent tried it yet as i am still waiting for my shippment tomorrow will make it 2 weeks. Will test it for you guys and will give out the verdict so for now don't buy the dock as of yet till i test it with the casing.

Besides charging the device on the dock....is it just used for data transfer?

I generally dont generally like using a dock for my phone. I fear that over time it may scratch the device when taking it in and out. If you are able to use the dock with something like the sgp neo hybrid case, that would be good. I would probably pick one up myself if thats possible.

Nope no data transfare with that will just power your device, as well as play music through a speaker or an external speaker system.
Nothing special to be honest just that the phone looks sexy on that

Just flashed my SGS2 with that KG2 update
I see this KG2 has not rooted the phone, busy d/ling KG2 insecure kernel and will try rooting this baby

ok, rooting was done in under 30 seconds
quick and easy.
I can finally run TitaniumBackupPro ;)

Do I need to do this battery calibration after flashing with KG2? Or is it only for Custom ROMs that the battery needs calibrating...?
BTW, the USB jig... R30 well spent - I love it, hehe

Mmm maybe i should get a jig and root my phone.. but i'm having so much fun with it now anyways.. maybe i'll wait a little till i get bored..

KG2 is a stock firmware update so you wont need to do it again but it is good practice to calibrate for 2-3 cycles.
