Samsung Galaxy S8

There's an update for my phone and it's on sammobile. Yet the OTA doesn't pick it up and neither does smart switch. Does this mean my CSC is not matching or something? I flashed Vodafone UK and there's a Vodacom UK update available.
 
Aaaaaand I cracked my screen.

Think it was an unlucky fall (its fell plenty of times before)

Any idea how much it is for a repair? Its just the glass I think... Colour and touch responsiveness seem fine.

The LCD is a sealed unit, so mucho dolla...

Normally you stop getting Ota when you load a firmware that doesn't match the phones native csc, you have to flash back to the firmware that matches the csc to get them Ota automatically or manually load the updates

If it's not a bad one and no insurance it's probably better to just live with it, maybe fit a glass screen protector over it of they are available to prevent the cracks getting worse.

I flashed a multi csc (OVF) which included Vodacom S.A. XFV. This allowed my Wi-Fi calling and volte to still work. Will wait a few days to see if the OTA arrives.

I also remember sammobile listed the SA unbranded update long before on its site before it was actually pushed OTA.

That's not true. Only if not done properly. I have BTU on my Note8 and it gets OTA. I have XFE on my S9 and it gets OTA, and both phones are XFV.
 
Light - medium use over the last 2 days on the new oero update. Got some good battery life on my S8+

That's good news, how do you do it properly so you still get Ota's?

It costs about R4500 at Samsung. They also do a mandatory battery replacement with the repair.

I wonder why they do a battery replacement if they have stated that their batteries retain at least 90% of their capacity after 2 years.
 
I get a strange little icon on the top left of the screen right before Whatsapp notifications comes up after upgrading to Oreo. The symbol just quickly comes up, then disappears every time I get a Whatsapp message. It looks almost like a diagram symbol, or chart or something. I try to take a screenshot of it but I'm always too late. Does anybody know what that is?

asked in another thread but here goes again:

Is there a build-in tool/setting for mirroring the phone to Windows 10 (Miracast)? I cant find one on my phone.

I've used a 3rd party app before but it kinda feels like its some kind of shortcut to an underlying feature.

It's when whatsapp checks for messages. Go into the android notifications settings and turn off other notifications and silent notifications for the WhatsApp application

The little symbol, shows when a app is temporarily or running in back ground.... If the app doesnt stop it will stay on top. Does it look like heartbeat monitor sign
