Samsung Galaxy S8

Still trying to figure out why the f*** Samsung used a plastic sim tray.... Even my cheap meizu had a metal sim tray. Tried to take out the simcrd now and half of the simtray with the simcard broke off and is stuck inside the sim slot.:mad::mad::mad:

Now I have to do a sim swap no easy way to get the simcard out.

It's the same with the Note 8, dunno about the note 9

Managed to push the sim back so got network now at least. Phone needs a new back cover and screen anyways. Getting those from Aliexpress so will just get a new sim tray too or a couple because these things are not made to last.

Has anyone here managed to get DSTV Now working on their S8? For me, the app isn't available in Playstore.
And if I sideload the app, when try watch something, it complains about using an uncertified device?

I ran into this issue after flashing some software. I'm assuming you flashed software with another CSC other than what your phone came with? Even though it may have been downloaded from Sammobile or another official site.
See pic below, the last line. Yours is uncertified. This is the settings page in the Playstore.

I fixed it by just flashing vodacom software again as my phone came with that and all was fine again. Not sure why it does this even though original firmware is been flashed. It's because the CSC doesn't match somewhere along the line.

Most likely the problem. Thanks
I'll do the same and flash a VC firmware, since they seem to be pretty good with updates ate the moment.

Yes they are. I'm actually surprised.
Mainly due to the device uncertification errors that I flashed it back. You will see that other apps are also not available/compatible. Found this out after a few days and decided to go back to voda csc.

i flashed my phone a while ago and now want to revert back to the vodacom firmware. on samobile, is vodacom the same as vodafone? is it the xfv version I require?

great, thank you. Do I then use the csc file or the home_csc file?
If I remember correctly, CSC will change your baseband and also wipe your phone. Home_csc will not change the baseband and also not wipe your phone.
I stand to be corrected though.

Received the update on vodacom today only, will download later.
Also, anybody manage to download good lock?
I see it's still not available officially here.

I'm also interested to see if anyone has managed to get Good Lock to work here

For those that have flashed their phones to the stock S8 rom and now wanting to flash back to the Vodacom rom, why do you want to do this? What was it about the stock rom you did not or do not like?

For me and another person here, Google Play store remained uncertified. My main reason for going back to Vodacom. Even though the firmware was downloaded from Sammobile and Knox was not tripped, the Play Store managed to detect a different CSC was being used. Not sure if this happened with other phones that are not vodacom CSC.
Also, I flashed VOD UK. I also tried German unbranded stock f/w.
Another reason for me was Vodacome VoLTE and WiFi calling. It stopped working with another rom.

Thanks for the response. I was considering flashing the stock rom but now I think I leave it as is. If it's working then why break it?

Yeah also Vodacom has not been all that bad with upgrades, pretty good actually.
