Dear Sir / Madam

REMINDER - REQUEST FOR OUTSTANDING RECOGNITION OF TRANSFER (ROT01) SUBMISSION

Please take note that, according to the records of the South African Revenue Service (SARS) the ROT01 for the directive number XXXX has still not been received.

A request for the submission of the ROT01 has been sent to THE PRESERVATION PROVIDENT FUND XXX. In order for SARS to finalise the Tax Directive submission process and/or the annual return submission, THE PRESERVATION PROVIDENT FUND XXXis required to submit the ROT01. This will prevent the amount from being included as a withdrawal benefit in your return.
Do you have a policy with Sanlam or Oldmutual etc.?

I didn't but I' do have a preservation fund with Old Mutual and they did some weird change where it's like they cash out and then reinvest, but they give you a form to confirm it's not taxable and should not be treated as a withdrawal. Might be this? IT3A it was called.

Hi.

I suggest you contact Old Mutual and get them to submit the ROT01 and it must be accepted by the other fund.
This has been a continuous issue with Pension/Preservation funds for a couple of years now. I worked in pension funds department at Old Mutual until November 2020, and this is an issue that only they are able to solve.

Hope you come right.

Some info from SARS on WFH claims

WFH can only be claimed if a separate room is used as an office (and not a space within a room that has any another purposes)

More than 50% of your duties must have been performed in the home office and it must be specifically equipped for business

If selected for verification, the following documents are required:

1) letter from employer

2) evidence hat you worked mainly from the home office (50% rule).

3) that you worked from a dedicated home office / room (need to submit the floor plan and photos, SARS may perform a home visit);

4) need to submit a floor plan as evidence of size of home and office.

5) need to submit invoices for expenses, rental agreements for rent, bonds statements for interest etc)

I accepted an auto assessment on the 1st of July and got back my money a few days later. Now Old mutual says this.
I'm too lazy to check my actual return but how the hack does a company as big as them mess up?

Yes, I was told by my financial advisor they have many customers across different providers with this issue and that it may be an Industry wide problem between SARS and providers. Either way it is important to log it with your fund provider. This is an annoying year, between the Taxtim issues with SARS and this issue, it might be some time before I can finalise.

You may be onto something with the mobile app.

Uploaded docs from PC and like you no response. Uploaded another doc via the mobile app and at least got a letter that acknowledged receipt

Resubmitting all docs via the app
Did the same last night after waiting 5 working days, hoping that I receive the completion letter this week.
