So just for interest sake, they still have these powers - I was never under the impression that they "lost" them. They took R2m from a client's bank account the other day for unpaid VAT.

The SARS debt collection department has also upped their ante. I'm receiving way more phone calls regarding outstanding debt and unsubmitted returns as of late.
 
Hi - on the question of medical expenses. Does Sars audit the amount provided by the medical aid on the tax certificate? I have most of the big invoices and pop’s but in some cases the Dr didn’t seek to recover the amount not paid by medical aid (R150 here or there) so there’s no invoice and pop for that.
I do have other expenses that will go under code 4034 and have the invoices and pop for that.
 
Hi guys I've completed everything and tried to calculate results but it doesn't give me anything.. I phoned sars and they said I cannot view until the 7th..?pls advise

You have to wait. There was only small gap Saturday to submit early

Requesting a calculation didn't work for me from the website, I had to do it from the app and then I could view the calculation from the site. Still can't submit though, that's been blocked until it officially opens.

However I want to do a calculate before I submit, but it doesn't allow me to on either app or web, web just returns me to the returns site and app just tells me that my request was not successful.

Looks like I will have to wait until the 7th...meh

Looks like the calculation is working now.
 
"Please note that you will be able to retrieve and file your 2023 tax return after 8pm on 7 July 2023"
