Sim Sonke

I was on 8ta more and should have converted a long time ago!!...gonna save big time now!
 
I hope this is not indicative of my future. Bought a Internet Starter SIM from a Telkom store on Saturday and when I inserted it into a phone yesterday (had to locate an old phone and charge it first), it didn't work (SIM registration failed). Phoning 081180 revealed that I didn't own the SIM either, even though I provided all the RICA required stuff on Saturday. :wtf: But that was sorted when I visited the same store and someone else helped me. And it's on SIM Sonke now. :)

Congratulations! Happens probably 1% of time whereby RICA wasn't successful due to a network error/communication error, glad you are now sorted and part of the Telkom Mobile Sim Sonke family.... Normally what happens when some retailers capture your RICA details for the sim card as soon as the system is communicating then they send out all the batches. Happen to me once when they sold me a sim card it didn't process that evening only the following day.


With regards to a cheap phone shop around and buy a R30 phone.. Scarce finding them now days they first were on the market for R150, reduced to R60, then R30 :) Just works to phone people.

I have lots of old phones which I've collected over the years as each contract lapsed, so it was more a case of hunting where I stashed them. ;)

From my discussion with the agent at 081180, it sounded more like a case of the salesdroid using their ID instead of mine. Unless the phone number they allocated to me actually belonged to someone else. Search me what the first salesdroid did, as the one who assisted me the second time didn't really say anything. I sat there in almost silence waiting whilst she was typing away. Either way, I walked out there with the same SIM card linked to a new number which was working before I left the shop.

I think once I've migrated my MTN contract to prepaid and ported to TM, I'll convert my parents from CellC to SIM Sonke as well. Much better rates!

My mom and her friends use SIM Sonke and their kids after I introduced my mom and 1 of her friends to Telkom Mobile SIM Sonke, they talk for hours and hours probably 5 hours a day or more. After 59m:59s it drops the call, then they redial each other.. They meeting government mandate make communication affordable :)


Hope this promotion is here to stay for many Year's to come.
 
Going strong on Sim Sonke. Most of my family members have MTN contracts, but its still worth it. Got their Leonovo A3000 on contract for R99 per month. Includes 500 mob of data. Can only phone on Skype, but still a bargain.

Works great if you don't have a mic for your pc as a teamspeak replacement if you play league of legends online with your friends.....
 
I referred someone who couldn't get a Nano SIM card. Can one get an ordinary TM Nano SIM card and migrate the price plan to SIM SONKE?

Edit: found the answer. :)
 
Anyone know if it's possible to get multi-SIM on SIM SONKE?
 
What data bonuses do you guys get for topping up data? I think I should have bought my new 25+25GB bundle on a SIM SONKE sim card, instead I used a regular SIM card. Boo. :(

Joining sim sonke just gives tons of recharge bonuses when you join and some promo's over time.
