Skyworth Binge Android TV box

Got this as a gift for someone & have a few observations.

I own the Xiaomi Mi box aswell.

The remote on the skyworth is better. It feels more robust & just feels better in your hand vs Xiaomi remote.

Good packaging & overall good build quality. This was manufactured in Shenzhen, China. Some of the best electronics come from Shenzhen.

The skyworth box navigates slightly slower than the Mi Box but is a tiny difference. The Mi box feels just a little more responsive. Not a big deal.

The packaging is a lot better than Mi box's.Nice touch adding batteries. I was annoyed with Xiaomi for not including batteries.

Good luck with Netflix. Hope this box receives Netflix certification.

There is a lot of good quality content coming from Netflix. I watched a good show called Sex Education on Netflix the other day. It made me realise how kak dstv is.

Anyway this box is in desperate need of Netflix for survival. The everyday consumer wants this box for Netflix and YouTube.

Continue updating & patching this device. It will set you apart from Xiaomi...The Mi box is pretty buggy at times & Xiaomi isn't as quick to rectify issues.

Im happy..cant fault it..but as you say Netflix needs to happen
 
I'm sure I read an official post saying they won't have Netflix on this box, but a new model may be released including Netflix?

Regarding the batteries, I know it's really tough to ship batteries nowadays and can cost a relative whack. I haven't folllwed this thread, but is there not some sort of local 'touch' on this box before it is sold, and batteries are probably added?

#cyberflix 1 million times better then netflix any day guaranteed
 
My box has been seriously buggy lately when using plex and or kodi. it freezes alot, and often using the assistant button just doesnt work

Differs from person to person. I also use cyberflix and other apks but some people like to stream 1080p and 4K and you wont always find those kind of links easily on apps like cyberflix. Some apps will allow setup of realdebrid which will allow more and higher quality links though. Also netflix has consistent quality on all content and not dodgy links (or no links) like you may find on some content on cyberflix and others.

Lastly there is obviously the moral issue that is important to some people. Neflix being the legal option...

There may have been a google update that has changed things recently. We are looking into this, but in the mean time, has does it improve after a factory reset?
 
I checked with Skyworth support if I could sideload netflix. I got helpful tips about clearing cache(that was useful to know), and pointed to the apk at help.netflix.com, but it wont work ," not compatable -13". I have used the same apk on my other older android tv box with android 5.1.1, with no problems. So, it could be Oreo. So now, no Netflix,not even in browser, streaming issue there.so, again, no Netflix.Bad, bad, bad. UPDATE: I finally find an apk that worked. from https://netflix.fileplanet.com/apk so, all is good now.

The box froze while using Dstv now & youtube. It was unresponsive. I eventually had to unplug & reset.

The google assistant sometimes freezes aswell.

Everything okish after reset but still returning box. Good luck with Netflix etc
