Sadly not, it is not a trivial task, and won't be on this platform. It's something we have noted for future platforms should we be able to bring these into this market in future.

You have to realise that people who want to hack / script / pirate / fake / sideload are in the minority.
 
It seems Takealot has stopped selling the Skyworth Binge Android TV box.

So this is now probably officially the end of the road then.
 
@Skyworth Digital Support , my box seems to be getting strange artifacts on the menus suddenly? Tried resetting and reseating the hdmi but still appears. Any ideas?

Any items in focus are fine but anything in the background gets "blocked".

Makro.co.za lists it now as not available online anymore , and in the Western Cape it seems only Cape Gate has some last stock.

So yeah, end of the road for the Skyworth Binge Android TV box.

Good luck to having continuous support from Skyworth to those that own an unit.

I did that cause that app is applicable and useful to people with tv boxes, in this case the binge box. I could have cut and paste my whole thread, but why when I can link to it. Everybody in here does not know about my post in the xiaomi thread so cant see why it would be spam

I am trying to help people, If you spend more time you would realize the is no affiliate links or anything.

That's odd. As a first point of troubleshooting, please try a factory reset.

Also, please drop us a mail on [email protected] and we'll see if we can figure out what went wrong.

Finally got around to looking at the box properly. Tried factory reset, no joy. A little less but still artifacts on the menus and I just used the base apps, didn't install anything else. Took it back to Makro, they are sending it in for assessment, awaiting a response. if it was a pc, I would say the graphics cards vram is gone but haven't seen that issue in years!

It does sound like a GPU issue, but it also might be some form of software corruption, which an image re-flash will clear. The repair centre should be able to establish what went wrong.
 
This is my second box - mainly for kids YT addiction so I haven't played around much with it.
I tried downloading an APK this passed weekend and it said something like downloads aren't supported.
I then copied the apk file to a USB and installed it, but the app just closes a second after opening it (this same app works flawlessly on my main TV Box.

It's difficult to support every 3rd party app. Which app are you looking at?

KS Hosting.
My primary box installs anything thrown at it.
I feel very limited with the Skyworth box (bought it for kids and also as a back up should by primary box decide to go on pension - but the Skyworth cannot replace it)

I don't think they can help with pirate apps.
The reason most apps/files can't download is most likely because the software doesn't contain the DocumentsUI app which is needed to save files correctly, it's missing in the firmware of the Skyworth box and can't be added without a firmware update.
