Smart outdoor security cameras in SA?

Does anybody here have Blue Iris, Deepstack and the AITool working properly? Mine is working, but at some point the AITool says the Deepstack server is not responding (this happens after the upload step 1/6), and starts to add images into the queue. If I restart Deepstack it does not help, I have to restart the AITool. I put HA on a restart schedule every day (Deepstack is running in Portainer) but it still happens. I don't see any settings in the AITool for the Deepstack server? Will it help to run the AITool as a service? Can I have that restart on a schedule?

Mine is offline until this weekend but when i was doing the test i didn't have that error in the 48hrs i ran it for. My setup is also different in that im running it all direct in Windows
 
Thanks. I am using my old pc that is still on Win7. So deepstack won't run on it directly. HA is running in Virtual box on the same pc, with DS inside that. Aitools is running directly in Windows. The VM has 2gb ram and all 4 cores on the pc for DS. Would like to allocate more ram but it only has 8gb. Maybe that is the issue. Blue Iris is also running on this pc, which also uses some resources. It is also my Plex server. So not much ram left. Might be worth increasing the ram on the pc?

Memory always and maybe win10? My 16gb ram is on its way with 500gb SSD. Was going to go Debian but I understand windows so my i5 pc will run win 10 pro.

Yeah this could be a solution, a cursory look showed that some guys ran out of RAM and increasing it helped

You can get some relatively cheap ram on carbonite

Thanks guys. I uninstalled some other running services (all gaming stuff has moved over to the new pc), and allocated 4GB to the VM. Will see how it goes tomorrow. Will have a look for more RAM as well.

I also considered upgrading to Win10 but I don't want to redo my whole setup for Plex, SABNZBD, Sonarr etc.
 
Anyone have a problem (and solution) for camera lenses getting dirty/murky? We live close to the sea - so I find myself up on the ladder cleaning them frequently.

Its not an issue during the day, but seems to affect the IR quite badly.

No, but I do seem to have go brush the cameras with a feather duster about once a week, otherwise I get spiderweb strands being lit up by the IR and confusing the motion detection
 
So my Kview DVR failed today. Thought it was the HDD, but the damn thing just flickers. And today was the day I got my 16GB ram , SSD and win10 pro. FML

So I need a new DVR without wanting to change my Analog 2mp camera's.

Can anyone recommend a hybrid DVR that perhaps supports the RSTP protocol for Analog cameras. I want to do the whole Hass notification thing when motion detected . I have 8 Analog cameras and it's going to be difficult to change to IP. Interested in blueiris but not for now.

Swear I saw somebody post a link to DVR from esquire that had built in facial detection, etc .it was a black Friday special but search is failing me and nothing on their website seems to show a DVR with these capabilities

I have finally managed to get my 2 x Reolinks up and running. Compared to the EZViz Cameras, I can say that the Reolinks are better. From build quality to the branded Apps that they each run, the Reolink App is just more feature rich and easier to use.

I have been reading on IPCam talk and noted that alot of those guys don't really like Reolink much, but I cant see why. I am happy with it thus far.

Managed to get both cams linked to BI on my laptop to test and it was easy enough to get the cams added, but Its not that easy to get the motion detection -> Alerts -> Record to work well. (Im sure it because I took the lazy route and did not use YT or Google, I tried getting it set up on my own 1st.) Will read up and see later tonight if I can get it configured a bit better.

What is the MINIMUM PC specs that I'd need to run only 2 x RLC-410? I noted on the laptop that I ran it to test, the CPU was sitting at about 25-30% and Ram at less than 2GB, So will a desktop PC with the same specs work or will I need more resources because of HASS and AITool?

I'll link you to a YT vid about optimising BI - if not optimised it can run hot and high. The optimisations should result in much lower CPU utilisation.

What processor and generation do you have in the laptop?

Laptop has AMD Ryzen 7 and 8GB RAM so testing was easy.

The only desktop I have available has the following specs, Im hoping to run it on that desktop:
- Core i3 (2100) 3.1Ghz (Soc 775)
- 4GB RAM DDR3
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti
- 500GB HDD

The i3 might struggle a bit but i see it has Intel QuickSync so that should help a lot - i see you also have an NVIDIA Gfx so that should also help as well! For 2 cameras 4GB should be fine but if you add a few more you will want to increase that.

Thanks, well the initial plan was to buy a 2nd hand PC or build from 2nd hand components but plan had to change. So I have this ol'desktop available at the moment and will just run it as is and see what happens.

In my mind Im hoping the GPU takes some of the load off the i3 and balances out the performance, but we'll see. At least by the end of my experiment we'll know what the minimum specs are.

The thing that kills your CPU usage is not the recording (provided you enabled Direct to Disk Recording), but the display of the streams. You want to display substreams rather than full res streams, especially when viewing multiple cameras at the same time. Digiblur made a nice video about it last week actually.
 
Reolinks 410's on special again on their website direct until today for $41...


I'm tempted to buy a few but since I don't have BI with AI or sentry setup on my home network yet I'm also tempted by their new AI cams,the 5MP are available to buy right now for $71 and $91 for the 8MP version.....decisions decisions....

Hah, they always seem to be on special. I bought 4 the other day on special; I haven't even mounted them yet lol
