Smart outdoor security cameras in SA?

Does that camera have a RTSP feed?

I want to use it with the Synology NAS's video station.

I managed to get it added to Hik Connect via cable but that misses the point. However the add wifi-camera feature in HIK Connect looks for a different AP than the one EZVIZ cameras tries to broadcast.

My issue. Dont want to run more apps.

Already have wyze (internal) and reolink (external) plus old analogue hikvision.

Will replace some reolink cameras with better ones. Pity the 8k models only seems to work with their NVR. Guess I'll be forced to go that route if I want the 8K cameras.

Also seems that the Reolink NVRs dont work with Google Home?

Why can't we buy any Hikvision Wifi cameras (not EZVIZ) in South Africa?
 
OK I managed to get the EZVIZ camera connected, via Wifi, to my HIK-Connect account.

1) Setup a separate EZVIZ account
2) Add the camera to that account, going though the Wifi Setup
3) Once it is on the network, I checked with the Hikvision SADP tool that it is indeed picked up and seen as a Hikvision camera.
4) Delete it from the EZVIZ account. It should keep the Wifi credentials in the camera (checked on my router that it stayed connected).
5) Add it to HIKConnect by scanning the barcode. In my case it just immediately added the camera to my account. If this didn't work, I would try to add it as "Connected via ethernet" instead of doing the Wifi setup again.

I'm now able to view it remotely without any issues in the Hik Connect app. Additionally, it seems to support many of the same features as it did in the original EZVIZ app.

Futhermore, I discovered that it also has a substream, which is useful if you want to record say 24h at a lower resolution. In the EZVIZ C3W case that I'm testing, the main stream is:

rtsp://admin:<verification code>@<IP or host>:554/H.264
or rtsp://admin:<verification code>@<IP or host>:554/Streaming/Channels/101
(1920 x 1080px, 15 fps)

While the substream is
rtsp://admin:<verification code>@<IP or host>:554/Streaming/Channels/102
(768 × 432px, 10 fps)

Hope the new house is treating you well.

Install was super quick and easy. Really is plug and play.

Really happy overall but I can't seem to get the smart features working on the 2 x cameras with people/car detection. They get added automatically when plugged into the NVR but on the NVR all the cameras features/settings are the same.

Found out you need to add those cameras as individual devices in the app but I have not managed to get that right yet. Only got the NVR loaded and that then loads the cameras as channels.
To be brutally honest though, I haven't tried really hard. Probably spent like 10min max trying to figure it out.

The standard motion detection and alerts have been more than enough for us. Some false alerts on really windy days or at night with some big moths triggering it. But overall it is pretty damn spot on and quick.

I finally have this weekend off so might try and figure out how to get them loaded individually.

Screenshots attached from app on phone. These are all at pretty low resolution. Full 5MP resolution it is pretty impressive.

Yeah yeah!!1 I know the lawn needs attention. Busy sorting out the bald spots! :p

New place is good thanks - as usual there is always something that needs doing around the house The lack of rain is also showing this side with bald spots forming after is cut the grass last week

That setup looks good - yeah i've discovered that these things need some tweaking over time esp with the false positives

Just one more finding on this -- using the rtsp://admin:<verification code>@<IP or host>:554/H.264 URL didn't actually seem to give me a H.264 stream -- rather a H.265 stream.

I also found the one below here:

rtsp://admin:<verification code>@<IP or host>:554/h264_stream

which seems to work correctly.
 
How are you guys improving the quality of the Night vision images / videos? Improved lighting around the house in general or using IR sensors (whether the cameras / standalone ones)....

I simply used the internal Reolink settings to balance and improve the image quality during night time. My issue was the camera on my carport was reflecting IR on my white car, causing the rest of the image to look almost blacked out. but was resovled after changing image settings.

The PC version of the reolink app seems to have more configurable settings with regards to brightness, exposure and all those settings.

Am currently using a mixture of lights and the IR lights on the cameras themselves with mixed results - will def play with the settings a bit more tonight and see if i can get more clarity. the IRs do blast quite hard so reflections / white-outs are common

I actually turned the IR off on my cameras since it attracts bugs and spiders. Image is quite decent with the external lights I have, mostly small LED flood lights. If it is a dark area you will have to use the IR though.

Yeah I've seen tons of spiderwebs and they cause so much interference and false positives for motion detection .... Except for the 2 cameras where the IR is off

Ultimately i guess a balance between on camera IR, standalone IR and general lights will need to be found

Are you picking up these false positives even with the Blue Iris software and its tweaks?
Or is it via the Reolink app and software?

I concur that stuff like spiderwebs and heavy rainfall trigger the motion alarms constantly at night when IR is on. We just turn off push notifications when there is an all nighter of rain. And wife usually grabs the broom and swipes the webs away. Although this happens very little to be honest.

Any false positives on the AI cameras (person/vehicle)?

Yes picking up the false positives in BlueIris, changes in cloud cover, trees swaying and spiderwebs ... But ive turned off the AI detection function at the moment - jusy using the built in motion detection

I still have a week of leave so will hopefully get to tinker a bit more. Spent 2 days trying to get VPN access to BlueIris setup (stunnel) - the non VPN method (port forwarding) works really well just wanted a more secure method
