hey guys,
i noticed alot of talk about attenuation and SNR margins.. as far as i know, in order for the line to be stable(no disconnects/desyncs) the Attenuation needs to be lower then 55db, and the SNR above 10db...
recently i synced at 4096 for 9 months, stable downloads, stable line, everything perfect..
my readings when i synced at 4096 were 52 att, and 16db SNR
on the 11th i pick the phone up and there is no dial tone, and the router isnt syncing, i report the fault and a day later the phone line is back up... since then though, ive been getting disconnected/router desyncing alot, so i monitored the noise and attenuation...
i noticed that my router wouldnt even let me past +- 2500kbps and at that speed my SNR is 6db ( FROM 16db @ 4meg), the router then proceeds to desync itself down to a stable SNR of 16db and a speed of about 700kbps, and can stay connected for days and days on end...
Now... my question is..? where is the fault, obviously my line can run at 4 meg perfectly like it did for 9 months before the 11th of may 2008, ive had them lower me to 2 meg, and the same thing happens... I think its at the exchange, perhaps a faulty port, or something!
Does anyone have any clue? or have they had this happen to them?
ive logged 8 faults all of which have come back "resolved" with no changes to my line.. please help
