Telkom ADSL 8Mbps :)

Sorry for my ignorance, but is there any way to find out the max speed your line can do? When I had the guest account from TI, before my proper account got activated, it sync'd at around 21mbit/s but was obviously changed as soon as the account was activated.

I live in Bloem...ADSL's kinda rare here so I guess the lines are quite empty. I suspect, since we're a bit of a hub for the country, our infrastructure's not bad for the amount of people we have.

How is ADSL rare here??? Where you live? Most of the nothern suburbs all have access to DSL. The infrastructure is alright.... I dont think I would sync at 4096 with a 46 attenuation and noise margin of 11 despite being 3.5kms from the Dan Pienaar exchange

he connected directly to the exchange(sitting next to it on his double bed) lol , telkom is looking for him to give him a free shack:D wish i had 1 of those:rolleyes:
 
Just_Ice, it's not a case of people having access to adsl, it's a case of the amount of people that actually has it, which in this backwater, isn't many, compared to JHB and the like. I connect to the LHP exchange, if I'm not mistaken. Praeses also got a killer line synch (18mbit IIRC) before telling Telkom that he's actually supposed to have something less, by doing the line activation thing. Funny thing is, I'm further away from the exchange than he is. The infrastructure there is all relatively new though(Universitas Riff has ancient cabling and they couldn't even get 56k a few years ago. Luckily it's been upgraded since then). Ice, where do you live? We should have a Bloem MyBB meet sometime, get some shirts and things sorted ^_^
 
Hi peoples, I've been following this thread hoping for 8mb :)

I am currently on 4mb with no issues.

Would it be possible for my line to support 8mbps?
