Telkom blasts MWEB’s transit cut decision

This "not in the spirit ..." comment from Telkom must surely stand as the best telecoms quote for 2010. It's really really funny.

Dear Telkom,

My vocabulary fails me when I try to explain how much I hate your entire organisation. Yet, the amount of anguish you have caused me cannot compare to damage that you have done and still continue to do to this country because of your greed, incompetance and anticompetitive behavour.

You suck the maximum suck any sucky organisation could ever suck.... and then some.

I will support MWEB even if it means putting up with a lot of crap. If I have to go through 6 months of hell by supporting MWEB, it would be a but a drop in the bucket compared to what you greedy, corrupt, ass-clowns! have been doing to us for decades.

Hope this turns out really bad for you.

*******s!

This entire post is full of so much WIN!

I just see this move as a profitable one for Mweb.

1. They dont have to pay peering anymore.
2. They have the most consumers.
3. More people will join them.

Basically by pioneering uncapped, they got the most users, now that they wont pay peering, they use their numbers (US) to bully, and now they dont have to pay peering.

I think its pretty smart, but being used as a pawn knowingly is making me uneasy.

WTF has Telkom ever done for "the spirit of the Internet community?"

.|.. ..|. you Telkom!

“MWEB’s unilateral measure is not in the spirit of the Internet community,” said Telkom.

Wow, just freakin' wow! I consider myself to have a relatively wide vocabulary, but right now I'm stumped for words. This has got to be the most ridiculously retarded thing Telkom have ever said.

I nominate this statement as Diarrhoea Quote of Century.

“MWEB is deciding not to exchange traffic directly with Telkom’s internet network namely AS 5713. As a result, MWEB is portioning the Internet and disrupting the flow of traffic between MWEB and Telkom customers,” said Telkom.

You mean MWEB deciding not to keep paying you insane prices which has to come from our pockets? While you continue to screw over the whole country and keep us from getting world class service.

Imagine you live in a house in the suburbs. Imagine that you want to visit your neighbour across the street. Now the easiest way to visit them would be to walk down your garden path that you built and paid for yourself, through your front-gate, and then across the publicly accessible road that everyone pays for through their taxes, through your neighbours front-gate, up their garden path that they built and paid for themselves and through their front-door.

Now imagine your neighbour said, no no no. They don't want you to use their garden path that they paid for to visit them anymore. Instead they want to you build an underground tunnel, at your expense, that extends from your house to their house under the street that you must use if you want to visit them. What's more the neighbour will charge you everytime you use the tunnel. And if any of the other neighbours want to visit them, they must all build their own individual underground tunnels from their house to the neighbours house, and they must all pay for it themselves. Doesn't make sense, does it when there's already a perfectly good garden path running up to the neighbour's front-door. Why must all the neighbours have their own underground tunnels to the house?

This is exactly what MTN and Telkom are doing. They don't want you to use their garden path or the public road to come to their house. They would rather all the neighbours pay for expensive underground tunnels and then pay them to use it.

ha ha. Just like Kulula have eroded the position of the state carrier (and profited). that's despite being up against a competitor with taxpayer backing (SAA/Mango). As everyone here says, hopefully the tide is turning.

I'm surprised Telkom managed to string so many words together to actually form coherent sentences.

the mere fact that they responded to this confirms that they feel threatened....

very bold move from mweb.

we... the internet community salute you and support you wholeheartedly...

p.s. go fnuck yourself telkom
