Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Have to ask, does your company force you to use Telkom? Is it not time to jump ship?

I work from home and myself and the family contribute to ADSL. Switching service providers is expensive because we have to do it at the end of the month and the line is in my dad's name, so I can't close anything without him present or reachable.

Dum dum dummmmmmmm
18th Feb has arrived.

Lets see if the "fix" that was promised is finally delivered #FINGERSCROSSED

Do you think they would know if its you or your dad speaking?

No. I pretended to be my grandfather when I was about 18 or 19. He wasn't able to call them himself and needed his telephone line canceled. I pretended to be someone born in 1933 and it worked.

They wouldn't, but since he's also contributing to the cost and the owner of the house, it's more respectful to keep him in the loop and allow him to make cancellations and so on. It's also part of teaching him and the rest of the family because at some point I'll be moving out of here again and I can't troubleshoot issues for them all the time.

See, we treat ADSL as a utility just like the lights and water and it's an additional cost to the rent that I pay to stay here. Saving money is always a good thing but doing things like changing line speeds or ISPs affects the overall usage and it's useability. Its easier this way if everyone knows where they stand.

Poor line speeds last despite good speedtest results.
I'm not sure what the reason is but it's getting old now.
Streaming 200mb file and it buffers every 5 seconds on a 4mb line.

28th February all 1mb lines should be upgraded to 2mb lines. My line at home was upgraded Friday evening. Work line is still 1mb tho.

Maybe a network fix was promused fir the 18th that I missed ...

I distinctly recall Ranger mentioning 18th feb as being the magic date when "The Fix" would happen...I may be wrong (often am).

I'm still waiting to find out if there's an actual problem being attended to. No answer in the feedback thread, no answer to this question via PM. It's all very mysterious.

That said, my internet seems to be working okay at the moment.

We will never know what's going on because telkom's policy is to keep customers in the dark.

My line has been great since Friday last week, not sure what has changed

Streaming without buffer (even 7pm - 9pm all fine)
Gaming without lag
Downloads are great

Let's hope it stays this way

Nice!

And your gaming, are you on a console or PC?
