The 2018 Weight Loss Thread

Well, even just having "a couple of beers on the weekend" seems to have gotten bigboy529 to where he is now.

"but it's just a chocolate", "but I only have 1 a day", "I only have 2L of coke per week". All these justs, couples and onlys add up...

I've actually been overweight since I can remember, looking at photos I was a fat baby, I was overweight in grade 1, when I started judo in primary school I was lways in a weight class above my friends of the same age, in matric I was heavier than most other guys and of course as a student dop got added to the mix as well.

Combo of genes and circumstances I guess. As for genes most guys in my dad's family are slightly over weight, my grandfather and his father has been over weight, so is my dad. As for the circumstances, I was born with a visual impairment which degraded up to the point where I'm now classified as legally blind, so as a child I was never as active as others, I didn't really run around and ride a bicycle, I didn't play rugby and cricket etc.
Up to this day I'm not as active as I'm suppose to be which I know is also part of the weight problem.

Picked up around 5kg in December :( . Need to be in on this.

Will weigh in tonight. Will use fasting with a +- 5 hour eating window during week days. Might also do some calorie counting.

You are either going to starve yourself if you try do low carb and low fat, or you are purely going to be living on tuna fish and chicken.

Either Fat or Carbs is needed for energy, pick one

Fanie
I'm diabetic so the no/low carb and not so much fat does wonders for the sugar levels. But it changes from person to person.

Hmm. Less fat means energy shortage which means gluconeogenesis...
Sure it wasn't a change in protein intake?

OK, so no real need for Fanie to track this, as I only want to lose about 3kg of fat.

- Age: 41
- Male/Female: Male
- Height: 1.67m
- Method of Weight loss: Portion control, sensible eating, relative to level of activity at gym or otherwise.
- Highest Weight Ever: 68kg (10 years ago)
- Weight at sign-up : 60.2kg
- Goal Weight: 57kg?

My main goal is to reduce body fat % to have my abs show, like a decent 4 or 6 pack, not just a slight outline as is the case currently. My weight could go up if i add muscle mass, but currently only gyming once or twice a week and it's not enough to add decent muscle mass.
