The 2019 Weight Loss Thread

Explain the 32 hour and 48 hour fast?

Its basically just an extension of the benefits of IF. After 36 hours the benefits of autophagy kicks in. Also only eating 3 times a week has the obvious caloric defect benefits. I sounds pretty extreme but the science behind it is pretty solid.

ah, forgot to weigh myself/check in yesterday.

100.4 this morning, up 800 g... kinda expected, lazy week plus bad diet... and I'm going to be away from home for 6 days starting tomorrow, so I'm sure next week's check-in will be bad as well...

Will attempt to get back on track after that

Sorry for the late reply, up this week. 163kg, when it's your Gran's 80th and she tells you to eat cake, you eat cake.

I started the year well doing that. When the fat started melting off I got complacent. No damage done though. Started again today and getting back into my routine. Training in a fasting state has excellent benefits.

Who knew Strawberries helped lost tummy fat?

I have been doing a bit of research on losing belly fat and although eating something may help with losing belly fat you not gonna magically eat something and fat is going to fall off.

Stomach, back and thigh fat is the hardest to get rid off because they are difficult to energies (fat cells need oxygen to release the fat) and the other thing is they collect a harder to break down fat then other fat in the body (also the longer its been there the harder to get rid of).

Pretty much everything I have read points to 3 things

- Eating correctly (some form of calorie deficit)
- Losing overall body fat (mix of cardio/eating right)
- Incorporating ab exercises after every training session, 2 exercises for lower abs, 2 exercises for upper abs and one that hits both. This helps because it brings oxygen to you abs through your blood to the right area.

Pretty boring end result you have to put in a f ton of effort to have nice abs.

Hmm, I agree with first 2 points regarding types of food and calorie deficit, but 3rd one im not 100% sure is true as it sounds like spot reduction which from all my readings is a myth.

Could very well be, I'm not 100% sure as I only started this last week and I lost 1cm around my waist but could all be coincidence from everything else I have been doing. Gonna keep going for about a month and hope for good results.

From the success stories I have seen, a lot of them seem to incorporate this idea in one form or another at the 15-20% body fat mark where I am now. Some props/NFL guys also look fat but have rock hard defined abs.

A few things I do wrong and didn't know I was doing wrong hooking feet under something to do sit ups, carrying weights with my shoulder while being slumped over at the waist and many more. Once you know the signs and look around the gym you can see the guys with weak abs.

Worst case scenario I strengthen my abs which is by far the weakest part of my body and this will help me all other exercises I do as abs help with form on 90% of exercises.

So you stop eating Wednesday afternoon / eve, and then only eat again on Saturday? What time? And do you do water only, or black coffee as well?

Correct I stop Wednesday evening between 20:00 and 22:00 and eat again Saturday morning after gym so around 10:00. So it’s actually a 60 hour fast.

I used to do water and coffee only but from last week I’ve quit coffee and now drink rooibos tea. Whilst coffee and green tea is good for metabolism my doctor recommended i quit caffeine for other reasons.

Not specifically weight loss related but happy to report that I've reached a personal target.

Finally managed to do 2km's sub 10 minutes on my rowing machine. 9:13 to be exact. It isn't near what the proper atheletes do it (5:38) but I'm chuffed seeing as I started at 13 or 14.

Next up will be to push for 8:00.

Now if only my weight actually showed this...
