The Bafana Bafana Thread

Surely this is a break in their contract? Can SAFA now go straight to SuperSport?

Put R50 down for a draw and it's still 0-0...As I thought it would be.
football365.co.za has lives scores, couldnt find any on ss.

The match ended in a 0-0 draw:

Johannesburg - Bafana Bafana have taken control of Africa Cup of Nations Group G thanks to Sunday's away draw in Sierra Leone.
The goalless draw sees Pitso Mosimane's men move their points tally to four while Niger, who stunned Egypt 1-0, lie second with three points. The Pharaohs and Sierra Leone have one apiece.

I can't say much having not watched the game, but at least we got a point. Bafana lead the group, but the matches against Egypt will be crucial. As it stands, Bafan have 4 points, Niger 3, Sierra Leone 2 and Egypt 1.

I still have not been paid out my R200+ winnings!Lol.

Anyhoo,I think its great for us that egypt lost, its almost like we got 2 points from drawing with sierra.I didnt believe that we could win,the conditions there are horrible and we don't seem to travel very well

Bloody SABC.Is a draw really a good result?

When playing in Africa, yes. Strange things happen up there. Venues get changed, team hotels get overbooked, referees forget how long a match should be, strange penalties get given. A draw away from home is good.

...and the AK47-toting child soldiers along the touch lines.

Not that bad, but Orlando Pirates were not allowed back onto the field with the trophy when they won the 1995 CAF Champions League in Ivory Coast.

Did you read that interview with Gavin Lane in the sunday paper the other week?

Tickets are on sale for Bafana's friednly against the USA: http://www.computicket.com/web/event/sa_vs_usa/258078272//referer:highlights-index-5-2-0-grid

The match is on Wednesday 17 November, a FIFA date, and kicks off at 21:30 at Cape Town Stadium. Tickets are priced at R50 and R100.

It's sure to be a great game, and if you're in Cape Town you would be crazy to miss it.

Didn't see this before, but yes I did read that article. The players know how hard it is to travel in Africa.

Edit: to the mods, can you guys remove the 2010 from the title and sticky the thread please?

Looks like Pitso is making good on his promise to bring more young players in. Aaron Mokoena is being rested, and Steven Pienaar will captain the team. The other big news is that Davide Somma is in.

Damn, you beat me to it...

Nice looking squad, IMO.

You can see Pitso 2014 plan starting to come together. He's slowly working out the older players, and bringing in young guys, which I agree with. MacBeth Sibya is coming to end of his career, and won't make it to the next WC. I Mokoena will probably give up the captaincy after the 2012 AFCON. That way Khumalo can have the 2013 AFCON to learn from, before leading SA to the 2014 WC.

The starting line up is out:
Itumeleng Khune
Anele Ngcongca, Siyabonga Sangweni, Morgan Gould, Tsepo Masilela
Steven Pienaar(c), Kagisho Dikgacoi, Thanduyise Khuboni, Siphiwe Tshabalala
Bernard Parker, Davide Somma

Looks like quite a balanced squad, hopefully they can get the job done against the USA tonight.
