The Huawei B593 LTE discussion thread

I haven't had the guts to do any upgrades - basically my 593 is working perfectly for what I need it to do - I'm actually waiting for somebody to 'brick' theirs and find a way to fix it again :-)

:D well im not doing it then lol..... will also wait then...

well im on 3G at the moment... so yeah... so tempted to take out another data contract with Voda...

why do you say an external antenna won't help getting TM LTE? Do you know where the TM LTE tower is?

Will it work..?? Thought i need to have coverage on map... Also not sure where the tower is... ;-(

do any of you clever people know if it's possible to create an additional SSID on B593 that has full access to the router, but NOT to the Internet?

Maybe static dhcp leases with a rogue gateway/no gateway?

that's like over-my-head-stuff, but I'll see if I can google some info around your suggestion:wtf: - thanks!

Yeah maybe for those devices you don't want to have internet access you configure static address leases for them with a bogous gateway IP/none so they can never break outside to the internet

thanks kianm! will fiddle around a bit..... had hoped it was simple "click that box" solution, but have looked at all the settings and doesn't seem so

Hi Guys

I really need help. I bought a B593-91 from overseas in June 2014. Worked well with Telkom mobile and I have no complaints. Until Sunday... I went on the internet to browse some movies, everything worked fine. After usage I switched off as per normal and went out with the family for the day. Upon return my son switched it on to play Xbox (that's what I bought it for). Mode light stays pink. I logged into the unit http://192.168.100.1 and there it says:- sim locked. My simcard pin was always on don't detect/check so it is not that. No matter what simcard I install it keeps saying sim locked. If I remove the sim from the router and install in the usb dongle (which we had before) it works fine. With the simcard in the router I can manually enter the normal pin of the card and submit and it excepts it. So my question is this, could the router for some or other reason have lost the crack to allow all simcards to be used? It was bought online and shipped from Saudi Arabia. In the box I received the algorithm code what was used to "open" the router. If so, how do I fix this please as it is now a door stop and the kids cannot play. I don't find anywhere where I can enter a code. Please if anybody can help. Just to add... 2 days before the pink mode light, the router defaulted to all factory setting on it's own without me downloading anything to it or even being logged into it. The kids just called me and said they can't connect and when I tried logging in it would not take my password. Don't know what made me try the default but it worked and I logged in. All the settings had to be changed again as all were default. Thanks so much if someone can assist me.

I would perform a hard reset, by pushing the reset button for at least 5 sec while router is ON and then try to set it up again - also make a backup file of the settings once it works properly - maybe also try 1st without the code

Hi. Have done that. I even went into the router and loaded factory settings. Keeps saying sim locked but nowhere gives me an option to unlock. Yet sim works in usb stick (modem) with no problems. So definitely on router side. No matter which sim I put in, it says sim locked. I will check tonight and get some screen shots to post. I know when you receive the router you have to put the code once to unlock, hence the code in the box. I didn't have to do it though as it was pre done when I received it (should be unlocked forever, so they say).
I tried with sim, without sim, no place to put a code.

Hi
I hope not. What is funny is that it is not sim pin locked, it says simcard locked. When I remove the sim and log in then it clearly shows no simcard....therefore the sim socket is working. I never removed the sim with the router on or anything to that effect. I can, with the sim in, change the pin and/or enable the sim pin, input it and it excepts it....just keeps giving me simcard locked...

It could be hardware fault (most likely corruption of the firmware) forcing master reset. I am afraid, this is a reason.
Try to find firmware with the same version or request it from Huawei service center. Re-flashing might help.

Hi.
Thank you, I will try and get something and reply if that sorted it out. Much appreciated.

On other thought:
I don't have B593 but on B683 there is menu Maintenance -> Log
If it is disabled, change to enable and reboot router. On my router it is enabled and log level set to Debug.
Then in Log View menu select level to see. The first four levels (Emergency, Alert, Critical and Error) are empty on my router. I guess if you see anything there, it doesn't look good.

Thx everybody....I will check in log file. Getting the firmware is another story... Everywhere they say this and that firmware:-when you download the file, it is some other firmware. Just wish idiot's actually have what they say they have and not let you download a load a rubbish. Getting the 150 firmware looks impossible...nearest one down looks to be 102 but also can't get it. Firmware is V100R001C82SP150.
