Oh and i lived in the states last year got an iPhone and worked with at&t for the first gen launch,moved here and worked for vodacom for 6 months this year, they are clever with marketing. They dont need to advertise, cause they know they ganna be sold out, at&t in the states advertised about 2wice on TV bout 4 months before the release, just to let ppl know what the phone is.....

No, i was born here, moved to the states when i was 13, i came back here now just for 4 years. I worked at at&t for bout 2 years so i had the experience so i just applied for a part time job at vodaworld. Im here because its too expensive to do my commericial pilots license there so ye.... (And i just wanted to come bak to see my mates ;) ) Oh and i left the job in July. I wanted to help with the launch but they told us later on in the year, so i was ova it. Who is going to the launch tonight? At vodaworld? :D i kno i am
Oh and will there be white models available?

I mean...with all the supersizing going on in the States, you might look...um...very different? :p
 
ye, i weigh 9000KG and cant see my feet. lol you guys really should take a trip there go c for urself. its not as bad as everyone says. Infact Australia has overtaken US by fatest nation in the world. Google it!

Damn, who is ganna help me fit in through the doors at vodaworld tonight?!?!?!
 
just spoke to a guy at vodacom and he says they have stock but no pricing. Will only have it 2morrow. but he said it's going to be like the blackberry packages.
 
Hey guys, I've been following this forum since it started, but never bothered to register to post.

So glad the release is finally happening. And I WISH I could attend the midnight release later on... Will have to stop by a vodashop tomorrow and hope they've got some white 16G available.
 
Some just dont get it!

:)some people say, "Oh vodacom is ripping us off and they are just trying to ake advantage, steve jobs said you can get the phone for $299 and no more than that!" . They slashed the (pay in) with a contract price. Some dont get it. Look at the 95 8GB Its like R10000 and you complaining cause a iPhone 8GB is R7700?! Here is a detailed explanation of what happened with prices:

IN THE USA (with AT&T) iPhone first gen was sold for $599. You could walk out the store without signing the contract and you were supposed to purhcase the contract online and activate it. And everyone did this because at&t was the only carrier then you could use it on. Now its unlocked so….

IN THE USA (with at&t) Now when purchasing the iPhone you HAVE to sign the contract, get approved before getting the phone. NO Just buying the phone for $199 and walking out. And that $199 or $299 is a Cash pay in system , just like we will have probably with vodacom. And there the minimum contract is R400 P/M + So yes by saying half the price they mean pay in is half the price.

Apple has an agreement with all cellular providers selling the phone, that for every phone they sell, the provider has to pay apple bout $300 or so - R2500. So they will NEVER sell you the phone for R2500 or R5000. Cheap phones that have old features- nokia or motorola go for that much! It is an expensive toy, if you dont wanna pay, dont complain, and go get another phone….

I just got this sms.. Want the new iPhone 3g on contract? Bring your ID, proof of income &3 months bankstatements to the iPhone launch at Vodaworld... The launch is tonight at 12. so they want us to go there with all our docs at midnight.. but they are not saying how much we will pay. (thats bull****)

But it does say standard Terms & Conditions apply. which means its not bull****.

i got this too ... thing is i wanna upgrade my contract cause its due for an upgrade and i go in and they say look it gonna cost you R5000 pay in on a business top up AND it must be a new contract only!!!! ... then that sucks ... so you just stayed up till midnight for nothing .... lol!!!!
