Yup 25 000 more, seen it on all cars in South Africa and they wonder why new car sales are declining. When your prices jump 25 000 in a year, which equates to an additional R700pm on a car payment.
 
Crazy. For those prices you can buy a really awesome 3 or 4 year old car.

Funny that those that are scared of owning a 2nd hand vehicle think they are getting a better deal here.

I might actually go for the Tata Bolt Hatch XT. I have been watching vids of it on youtube most of the weekend and it seems like a great little car. Seems when it comes to engine plower and features, this car blows the rest out of the water. Sure, not the best looking, but it is acceptable to me.

I agree that if you look past the brand this is one of the best cars Tata has ever built, get the one with the Harman Kardon sound system, it's well built and well priced, I totally approve. :cool:
 
It has also has 4 star NCAP safety rating, much better than other cheapies built in india like the KWID :P
 
Is it true that the turbo's of today pretty much lasts for the life of the car unlike the previous ones where they fail and then it is like R20 000.00 to replace it? Must you still leave your car on for a few minutes after parking at home or work to let the turbo cool down? From what I have read, the Bolt has a water cooled turbo.
 
At least it has more than 3 wheel nuts

Yes you have to idle your car for at least 15 seconds before driving and after.

Not necessarily true, but in a low powered car like the Bolt it might last long since it does not have to work as hard and also the Bolt has a 1.2l engine compared to the 0.99 cc of the Renaults etc so the chances a good that it might actually give you less trouble.

Watched a speech a guy from Ford did on the Ecoboost engine and he said the turbos of today just is not supposed to fail before the car or engine becase they are so well engineered now. The Bolt uses a Honeywell turbo, and Honeywell is a massive company in aerospace industry so dont see them making low quality turbo's?
 
All depends on the turbo - older ones i would let it cool down , however never ones are designed differently.In my older scoob i normally wait between 1 and 2 mins cause its a quite a big boy ;)

True, as technology evolves and become better so has the turbo technology, good thing that Tata got a company that has so much expertise to design the turbo for them, my confidence in that car has just gone up a notch. As I said before the Tata probably has a low boost turbo with a 1.2l engine producing 66Kw compared to a Ford Fiesta with a 1.0l engine producing 92Kw, the more harder it has to work the more chances for it to fail increases.
 
Doesn't do any harm if you let the car idle for a minute or two after driving.
