The weight loss thread

You just walk into the GP and ask for Ozempic?
Mine (Saxenda) was prescribed by by an endocrinologist because she and the cardiologist was worried about my visceral fat. Not sure how easily a GP will write a prescription

How much do you reckon is 1 months supply?
The saxenda I used was about 2400 for 3 units. Which is about a months supply on the higher doses.

Discovery initially did not pay for it but earlier this year they started covering it out of my medical savings.

Edit: I got close to 2 months worth of doses from the 3 pens.

Okay nice. Damn yeah my Discovery savings were ruined by Nebido injections because of low testosterone due to 5 year inactive thyroid. Should have just gotten this and thyroid tablets and lost the weight the testosterone would have naturally raise again.

Endocrinologist did me bad. I'm going back there I want my ozempic

For those that want to have a look at the Carte Blanche insert. Not sure if it's posted before.

Lol trust me, if I say the side effects can get hectic in the beginning.

Was hoping to get below 90 before December. I have a problem that when I see a open packet, I have to finish it.
heh - my plan was to be 80kg by end of year but it was too ambitious. I could maintain the momentum of 2kg/per month only for first 4 months.

I will be happy with 87kg target by end of december. 1kg/month weight loss should be doable if I am disciplined enough.

Same. My goal was 88 by December (which was my phase 2 goal of hitting the weight before I left SA). Slight chance that can happen. I just need to stop being a glutton.

Deal. You are my designated weigh loss competitor here, whether you like it or not. Let us compete.

I just can't get there.
With the kids etc there's a constant supply of chip, chocolates, cookies, sweets, cooldrink etc.
I absentmindedly walk through the kitchen and just pop the stuff in my mouth.

Even if I have been on 91kg for 2+ months, I am encouraged by the fact that 36 inch jeans is kind of loose fitting now compared to earlier months so exercise & diet regime is definitely working.

I have a work colleague who is a doctor. He gets it from a compounding pharmacy. Which significantly makes it cheaper as it isn't SAHPRA approved lol. Reason why he offered is is he is taking it himself. He is like me, if he so much sniffs food he puts on weight.

About R1300 for a 2ml container. R1900 for a 4ml bottle. And R3k for an 8ml bottle. Excluding syringes and swabs..

Then it depends on dose, currently I am on a 0.5ml a week dose. Will likely be cranking it up to a 1ml a week.

As for the injections themselves, they are the same needles as insulin needles. It really doesn't hurt. Kids with diabetes brave much worse than 1 tiny injection a week. (Biggest problem I had was remembering which side I injected on).

Consistently closer to 90 than being closer to 91KG so definitely some progress. I will take it now that I am desperate.

OVERALL STATS:
Start 2023: 106.5 kg
Start 2024: 81.3 kg
End Jan: 80.8 kg (-0.5 kg)
End Feb: 79.6 kg (-1.2 kg)
End March: 78.3 kg (-1.3 kg) [New scale]
End April: 76.75 kg (-1.55 kg)
End May: 74.70 kg (-1.80 kg)
End June: 74.60 kg (-0.10 kg)
End July: 73.60 kg (-1.0 kg)
End August: 72.95 kg (-0.65 kg)
End September: 72.75 kg (-0.2 kg)

Negligible change. Pretty stable now.

im in such an awkward size with my pants, down 4 belt sizes 36 is super loose but I have large legs so 34 doesnt fit :p

meh such is life will likely need some tailoring once I have settled on base weight. hovering round 97kg down from 110kg and maintaining that so im still super happy

Still hovering around 90.6. Apart from my bodyweight & KB exercises, I will have to start at least 30-40 minutes of static cycling after supper. That worked very well in the first 4-5 months of this year.
