The weight loss thread

Maybe we could put some money together and send him for lessons on how to read the room.
He’s promoting his business, details a page back. Post #952

I don’t really mind, there are many different views on weight loss.

What works for me, and is probably the healthier and easier option is to simply cut out sugar in all forms and cut alcohol consumption by half. And now that I’m used to it I’ll just keep doing it.

But for people that have tried repeatedly and failed I think drugs is a fair option. But there is certainly a chance of relapse if you don’t make some permanent changes.

It is done: baby, mommie and pappa is now reloaded at 50kg, 70kg and 90kg - strongman sandbags

Now if the ****ers can just stock up again on kettlebells I will probably get 2x 28s going to 32s after that.

You not in Jozi ? Plenty sellers selling KB's from R41-R45 per kg here. 2x28s is quite serious - you do ABC with that ?
Ek soek nie kak nie?

Look so either shen, rebelstore or kettlebells for africa with preference on first two and sadly both sold out. I don't want pnp plastic bs ones so either full cast iron or like what shen does.

Edit
Sometime in future I'll probably do full swapout for olympic ones.

…2x 28s coming from 2x 24s and already being to do full session at 80kg sandbag or 24s - quite sure another 4kg in each hand will be a minimal bump. I've been at this kak for years not like most of you running tiktokkers :p

Eitherway all bumps and upgrades always gets the same progression routes as only retard will go full 9000 on day one.

I sent you my bank details, thanks!

Most people just want to do the easy way, I get that. It is still important to consider if that is the best long-term approach.

I want people to consider the risks of taking the easy way; at the end of the day, everyone will make their own decision but it is important that it is a informed decision.

If you want an echo chamber then follow sideshow's advice.

But sand filling is always **** job and a workout on it's own if anyone has ever done this kak. I'm not too impressed with 90kg rated bag as it barely got in 90 coming from its current 80 load. May need to get 100kg replacement from rebelstore. Will see how it handles, but wish we had actual atlas stones in ZA. I guess another diy job.

oh ok.. Hannes schoeman sells these and these are good quality ones. Full cast iron ones. He told me that he also sells it to some retailers - can't verify it of course.

The issue for me is you are regurgitating what other people are posting which is often fear mongering based on partial truth and very rough correlation without any proper study to see if it IS causation or merely correlation.

Many of the compounds are tools, which are not supposed to be an "easy way".

Wow, well done. One of these days I aim to do ABC with 2x24s, 10 reps with EMOM - will probably take me 2 years from now. LOL.

Yeah look I started at RKC pavel strict, then went full religious lebe stark then ****it and now I'm on my own thing which combines: kettlebells, macebells, strongman sandbags.

Which basically consists of strengthside, flying dutchman and savagearmy is on yt.

But I can say this - bent press is, and windmill seems hard until you do it with barbell, then you think of double kettlebelling it and finally you realise it's doable fully as one full motion forward and backwards basically combining bentpress and windmill.

However, you must be careful here and first test it with 8kg max to see if you can safely pass the bar.

Otherwise fun stuff like kettlebell juggling. Which incidently massively improves footwork - and people said ballet was good for maritial arts.

But all of these are of course high risk and skill, control and handling matters. You will suffer if you have for example weak or bad shoulders as a whole nevermind same for your back and knees.

One of the concerns with weight-loss medication is that some of the weight lost can be lean mass, including muscle. This isn't fear-mongering, there is a growing body of research showing that it can happen, particularly with significant weight loss.

When you go off the medication, you will regain the fat but not the muscle.

Also go and do research on all the lawsuits against the weight-loss drugs; surely you must start to wonder why?

This is definitely a valid concern. But it ALSO happens with rapid weight loss without using any form of pharmaceutical. So again... just stating "it's because of the drugs" is 1. not factually correct and 2. placing it SOLELY on the GLP1 is fear mongering.

If someone loses weight by restricting calories and doesn't resistance train they will also lose muscle mass. And depending on how fast, bone density also.

Weight training during weight loss is an important part of the process (obviously if severely morbidly obese - aka my 600 pound life - it's a lot more complex).

When you go off the medication, you will regain the fat but not the muscle.
Very likely if lifestyle changes are not made. Which is why it's important to not think of any of these agents as a "pop a shot and sit on the couch" thing.

It should be a tool as part of a lifestyle change... in the same way eating better should.

If someone goes on a 12 week eating program, loses weight and then just goes back to how they were before they will also go backwards.

Also go and do research on all the lawsuits against the weight-loss drugs; surely you must start to wonder why?
There has been a massive upsurge in usage so this will naturally lead to more cases of bad reactions.

Looking at the data there are just north of 4000 current cases (it may go up) vs estimated 15 to 30 million users. The lawsuit to user ratio is 0.01% to 0.03%.

75% of the cases seem to be around gastroparesis. It's currently "unproven" as to whether GLP-1s cause this or not. It might turn out to be the case. But as it stands it's currently unproven (unless you've got literature that shows it as actual cause, I haven't been able to find).

For many people various medications in the GLP/GIP class have been life changing. For lazy people trying a quick fix... not a great idea.

You are correct, rapid weight loss without using any form of drugs can also carry the same risks. But that is not what I am advocating.

The healthy way to lose weight is to address the root cause of the weight gain, which is often a poor diet. All you have to do is cut out sugar, refined carbohydrates, and highly processed foods, and eat a whole-food diet with enough protein.

Yes, it will take longer to lose the weight, but you will also get all the other benefits that come from eating a healthy diet, rather than simply focusing on losing weight as quickly as possible.
