This is the Telkom LIT Android media box

So it's a recommendation that a maker can just refuse?

It's interesting to note that many big names are absent, including industry leader Samsung, which told The Verge it "chose not to participate" in Netflix's program — either this year or last.
Doesn't actually bother me about Samsung anyway.

Started watching Marco Polo in 4k with Dolby Vision and the difference between it and HDR10 is very noticeable...

Install DRM Info from the Playstore. Check the Widevine certification - level 1 is needed for HD.

No Netflix button here.

Playback on this box is not 100% smooth. Seems to be framerate mismatches between the various sources and output to tv. Not switching properly between 24, 25/50 and 30/60.

Not sure if it is the case on all android devices. My kodi box (libreelec) handles this 100% (switching frame rate and syncing framerate to display).

My eyes are very sensitive to judder, so bit of a letdown for me.

could be an isolated issue with your box. Also, what are you playing your files with, what app??

I haven't noticed any slow-downs, and earlier I was testing with a 4k 28GB file

nope, no need to monitor data usage. You could check your usage on your ISP, but I don't think thats really gonna work for you.
So zero Telkom data applicable even if only box bought on its own?

sorry guys forgot to post the link for the APK, which still needs to be side-loaded. I scanned it and all appears clean. There are quite a few out there, and most of them claim HD but they actually mean 720p. There only a few that I managed to find that actually went above 720p to 1080p but a lot of them were infected with malware and other crap. There was one that claimed to have 1080p and enable 5.1 sound, but it turned out to be bogus.
